'I'm scared': AP obtains video of deadly arrest of Black man

Source: AP

By JIM MUSTIAN

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Louisiana state troopers were captured on body camera video stunning, punching and dragging a Black man as he apologized for leading them on a high-speed chase -- footage of the man’s last moments alive that The Associated Press obtained after authorities refused to release it for two years.

“I’m your brother! I’m scared! I’m scared!” Ronald Greene can be heard telling the white troopers as the unarmed man is jolted repeatedly with a stun gun before he even gets out of his car along a dark, rural road.

The 2019 arrest outside Monroe, Louisiana, is the subject of a federal civil rights investigation. But unlike other in-custody deaths across the nation where body camera video was released almost immediately, Greene’s case has been shrouded in secrecy and accusations of a cover-up.

Louisiana officials have rebuffed repeated calls to release footage and details about what caused the 49-year-old’s death. Troopers initially told Greene’s family he died on impact after crashing into a tree during the chase. Later, State Police released a one-page statement acknowledging only that Greene struggled with troopers and died on his way to the hospital.

The video obtained by The Associated Press shows Louisiana state troopers stunning, punching and dragging the Black man as he apologizes for leading them on a high-speed chase, footage authorities refused to release in the two years since Greene died in police custody. Comment from the hospital doctor?

Major coverup that is unfolding...bad news for the police. Plus, two of the officers involved in this are already under investigation for another offense of a similar nature.

After a high-speed pursuit, an ordinary person is pumped up with adrenaline. In at least some large professional police forces, everyone has to routinely go through simulations that are designed to trigger an adrenaline rush so they can learn to handle it.

Of course, the 'roids and the racism doesn't help either.

What happened to this man wasn't wildly atypical behavior for any of these monsters. Anyone who knows them has seen it before.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Officials with Louisiana State Police say investigators have filed charges against four Monroe area troopers for excessive force in two separate incidents.

. . .

Investigators say the first incident happened in July of 2019 during a traffic stop on I -20 in Ouachita Parish. Troopers discovered suspected narcotics in the vehicle and placed the driver into custody.

After effecting the arrest, Troopers Brown and Dickerson utilized excessive and unjustifiable force on the handcuffed driver, deactivated their body-cameras, and reported untruthful statements regarding the alleged resistance by the suspect, according to police.

. . .

The second incident happened in May of 2020 following a vehicle pursuit in Franklin Parish, police say. Authorities say the driver exited the vehicle and immediately laid on the ground in a compliant position after troopers successfully deployed a tire deflation device.
Upon contact with the driver, Troopers DeMoss, Harper, and Brown utilized excessive and unjustifiable force during the handcuffing process and deactivated their body-cameras, according to investigators.

. . .

“Trooper Brown was arrested a couple of months ago for another excessive force incident. So that’s now three excessive force incidents that he’s been arrested for. What hasn’t been disclosed is that Trooper Brown’s father was the chief of staff under the prior administration,” said Goyeneche.

Trooper quietly buried amid scrutiny over Black man's death

A Louisiana State Police motorcycle honor guard precedes the hearse carrying the body of Master Trooper Chris Hollingsworth, Friday, Sept. 25, 2020, in West Monroe, La. Hollingsworth, killed in a car crash hours after he was told he would be fired for his role in the death of a Black man, was buried with honors Friday at a ceremony that authorities sought to keep secret out of concerns it would attract a mass protest. I would think these men, sometime down the road, will start waking up screaming, with a very close view of what they have done to their fellow men/women replaying every night as they sleep. Once it sets in, I hope it will never leave them again.

...ever giving a person a gun and a badge. They weed out the sadists. As a consequence, the suspect death rate is extremely low and not for civil rights violation reasons.

This country has got to adopt similar policies. While at the same time we enact gun control to control random shooters, we need to enact police control to control the cops.

Justice matters.

Stop letting these deranged people serve as police officers. They are the same as serial killers who torture and murder their victims.
