Brian Sicknick's partner: GOP senators 'spit in the face' of late Capitol Police officer

Source: The Hill

The longterm girlfriend of late Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick, who died following the Jan. 6 riot, says that the GOP senators who blocked the creation of a commission to investigate the insurrection have effectively spat in Sicknick's face.

In an interview with "CBS This Morning" released on Tuesday, Sicknick's partner Sandra Garza and his mother Gladys Sicknick, both of whom had lobbied lawmakers personally for the commission's creation, said the senators who voted it down had disrespected his memory.

"I'm disgusted that the Republican senators, that decided to vote no. It's a spit in the face to Brian, it's a spit in the face to all the officers that were there that day," Garza said.

She said that she and Sicknick were previous backers of then-President Trump, whose supporters stormed the Capitol in effort to block the certification of President Biden's Electoral College victory, but both Garza and Sicknick's mother now cast blame on Trump.

"He knew that Brian was devoted to him, and he did not once reach out to me, to Gladys, he didn't even send a letter of condolences. He did absolutely nothing. And so, you know, it's very upsetting, you know, that he's not - and I would meet with him, actually. I would. I would meet with him," Garza said.

Is she 'upset' that the Senate did not vote for the commission because of Trump's involvement with the Insurrection - or is she 'upset' that she didn't get a note of condolence from IQ45 - after all, they had been 'backers' of him.

the world would she meet with the man that helped kill her boyfriend. I find it doubtful that trump knew Mr. Sicknick like she says.

You and Brian were devoted to a man with no soul, no moral compass, and now you’re upset that this same man isn’t displaying any compassion or humanity?

Give me a break. I’m very sorry that Brian died, although he died a hero. Why would Trump, as the leader of both the insurrection and failing Republican Party, express any condolences to family members of first responders who died protecting our Capital? Trump wanted his mob to overtake our democracy, he wanted Brian and the other Capital Police to fail in their mission to protect us.

Sandra, you (and Brian) backed the wrong horse. If you’re looking for gratitude and decency, you need to stop trying to find it in Trump and the current Republican Party.

turn it all around, make it sound like he begged to contact you, make himself the injured party.
I don’t want to think so, but I almost think you want to believe that, when you almost ask twice to meet with him.
