Marcus Anthony Eriz, the 24-year-old Costa Mesa man accused of killing 6-year-old Aiden Leos in a fit of road rage, had a penchant for firearms and Mazda Miatas, his beloved “Yatas.”

He also could be, at times, optimistic and empathetic, traits seen among the myriad postings on his Instagram page.

The auto body technician who listed himself as a “welder/fabricator” posted videos of himself shooting a rifle and what appears to be an assault weapon, accompanied by the words “pew pew,” his often used phrase for guns. Depicted in the photos are large bowls of ammunition and more firearms. “R U ready?” he says in one gun post.

The words become unsettling when juxtaposed with the charges against him, murder and shooting at an occupied vehicle, carrying a maximum sentence of 40 years to life.

... incidentally, shot a mother and killed small child for basically no reason.

Even if I bought every side of it, he shot a mother and killed a small child for basically no reason.

No extenuating circumstances are offered, just a sort of "this is his first mistake".

A long prison sentence is proper. Long.

So he had the nice, normal reaction of trying to murder her (and killing her son in the process).

He’s a menace to society. Lock him up and throw away the key.
