Exclusive: Conservative group targets vulnerable Democrats over abortion

Source: The Hill

BY BRETT SAMUELS - 06/23/21 10:11 AM EDT

A conservative pro-life group is launching a six-figure ad campaign targeting Democratic senators and House members in battleground states tying them to President Biden's decision to leave a longstanding ban on federal funding for most abortions out of his 2022 budget proposal.

Susan B. Anthony List, a conservative group focused on abortion issues, will spend six figures on digital ads targeting Sens. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.) and Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.), who both face reelection in 2022.

The ads also target vulnerable House Democrats, including Reps. Tom O’Halleran (Ariz.), Carolyn Bourdeaux (Ga.), Cindy Axne (Iowa), Elissa Slotkin (Mich.), Haley Stevens (Mich.) and Ron Kind (Wisc.).

The ads, which were obtained first by The Hill, accuse the lawmakers of aiming to "overturn decades of bipartisan consensus that taxpayers shouldn’t foot the bill for abortions."

1. Pro-life to conservatives/republicans is a myth.

Republicans are in favor of killing living babies and have done so.

Pro-life to conservatives/republicans is a myth.

The supposed pro-lifers cared naught when the state of Texas (republican gov, republican Prez) deliberately killed living baby Sun Hudson against the mother's wishes because he was an inconvenience to the state.

It is not a matter of life to the supposed pro-lifers.

It is a matter of control.

3. Siamese Twins: The Anti-Abortion Movement and the Republican Party

Last edited Wed Jun 23, 2021, 11:37 AM - Edit history (1)

The Anti-Abortion moment is NOT non-partisan—it is an integral part of today’s Republican Party. This cannot be stressed enough. The Republican Party and the Anti-Abortion movement are Siamese twins. The Anti-Abortion movement not only controls Republican Party politics, but the Anti-Abortion movement works to elect Republicans. Often, Republican Party officials and Anti-Abortion movement officials are one and the same: not just figuratively, but LITERALLY.

This also means something else—the Anti-Abortion movement now bears responsibility for right-wing Republican health-care policy: not just responsibility for the Republicans’ anti-reproductive rights policy, but also responsibility for their pet officials’ hostility towards providing health care access to the poor and strained but for the Republican Party’s continuing efforts to limit affordable health care for the rest of us.

5. If they totally eliminate abortion, who is their next target?

There is so much hatred in the "pro-lifer" movement that it will have to be redirected at a new enemy. Are they going to eliminate gay rights, or just go straight to apartheid?

These people are motivated by the adrenaline rush they get from what they see as a "fight or flight" situation. We're not dealing with rational human beings; we are facing drug addicts who are looking for bigger and bigger fixes.

6. Next will be contraception

Their primary goal is to eliminate recreational sex. To a true believer, the ONLY reason you should have sex is if you're trying to reproduce. And believe you me, if they could figure out how to convince people to only make babies via artificial insemination, they'd be trying to abolish procreative sex too. It all goes back to the "protestant work ethic," which says we're supposed to live a joyless life so we can earn our way to heaven.

7. If Amy Barrett and the SC make abortion illegal, it will take away this issue from conservaives

Roe V Wade gave the religious right a very emotional issue they could use for decades-- wonder what will happen when they don't have it.
