Kremlin papers appear to show Putin's plot to put Trump in White House
Source: The Guardian
Vladimir Putin personally authorised a secret spy agency operation to support a mentally unstable Donald Trump in the 2016 US presidential election during a closed session of Russias national security council, according to what are assessed to be leaked Kremlin documents.
The key meeting took place on 22 January 2016, the papers suggest, with the Russian president, his spy chiefs and senior ministers all present.
They agreed a Trump White House would help secure Moscows strategic objectives, among them social turmoil in the US and a weakening of the American presidents negotiating position.
...
Western intelligence agencies are understood to have been aware of the documents for some months and to have carefully examined them. The papers, seen by the Guardian, seem to represent a serious and highly unusual leak from within the Kremlin.

One can't help but wonder who was behind the setting up of Fox "News," the megachurches, National Hate Radio, and the funding of extremist candidates for Congress and state legislatures. Dumb the population down to a great enough degree, and you won't even have to spend the money on the destructive candidates anymore. The electorate will at some point be stupid enough to actually vote for its destruction of its own free will. What a devil's bargain! "You will live a life of unimaginable influence, or unimaginable luxury, or both. As long as you do what I say. Cross me and you will disappear from the face of the earth. Sign here where it says "подпись (signature)." I'll bet the signatures (if not actual, then implied) of people like Carlson, Osteen, McCarthy, McConnell, Gaetz, Cotton, Hannity, Graham (both F. and L.), Scalise, Landon Schott, and a lot of etc. are in there somewhere.

DFW
(54,408 posts)It's not the creation of the primitive instincts that I tried to emphasize, but rather that they have been brought from the fringes to dominance. The Salem witch trials were considered a black spot on the history of colonial New England. Today, they would have been mainstream throughout a third or more of the whole country. If you were to ask how many of today's American "Christians" would applaud their re-introduction, the rest of the country would be hanging its head in utter shame at the horrifyingly large number.

I think it was a.m. talk radio that hooked my brother way back when he was driving a long-hauler. I once tried to listen to Limbaugh for 10mins but couldn't - I became so angry I had to turn him off. Same with Faux Lies.
Doesn't it have to do with southern "white male fragility" and that insightful quote of LBJ's?:
"If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you."
Just repeating folks here: it's about racism, culture, perverted religion, egos, and yes, ignorance, not facts or policies for them. LBJ knew he lost the South for Democrats. With the help of rich, lying media (& their churches) that minority is now threatening our democracy.

None of them had been burned - why they hell not? He was holding them for Junior, Jared, and I don't know who all, so THEY wouldn't get caught with them. One of those phones went to Prague, I'll guarantee it. Cohen got burned with other people's phones.

(24,504 posts)He never struck me as a person who would want to take on the responsibility of being President. And what great vision for this country did he have, except for a cheap marketing slogan {Make America Great Again}? Sure, the trappings of the Office would be attractive to this ego driven buffoon, but I still don't think that would have been enough to motivate him to open his personal/business life to extreme scrutiny.
If the kompromat was significant enough, I wonder if that was the true reason he had ran in the 1st place? His performance at Helsinki sure seemed to expose his vulnerability and fear that Putin could destroy him at any moment.

(14,577 posts)the first question that comes to mind is what proportion of the American people are actually hearing this? Because Fox sure ain't reporting it, nor is it getting any airtime on AM hate-talk radio. We can bet on that.
So no matter what the select committee does, no matter what actions are/can be taken by the government, Trump still got 74 million votes, and even though his support has eroded to a harder core of facists, say maybe 35-40 million, that is still a huge number of people who to this day believe Trump actually won the election. The whole underground pizza human trafficking Jewish lasers from space group. And they have lots of guns.
In the meantime, we have maybe 60 or 70 million of us that are troubled by rising fascism. That leaves millions and millions of Americans who may never hear this. Oh, they can tell you all about the latest reality TV star or perform sophisticated analysis of their favorite sports teams, but cannot tell you how many people are on the Supreme Court, what a bicameral legislature is, or even who their own US Senators and Representatives are.
Sometimes I sigh, because it seems a pretty tall order to actually get this news out to more Americans.

Supporting Donald Trump was obvious in Russia's best interests because of what they had on Donald Trump: Russian money was loaned to Trump through Deutsche Bank and a possible pornographic tape that was secretly recorded, or at least the threat that they had such a tape. Keep in mind that according to James Comey, Trump denied the fact that he paid for hookers but not that he didn't have sex with women in a Moscow hotel.

(111,277 posts)This might be the first sign that Putin is in trouble. He miscalculated badly with Dumdum. He expected loyalty and gratitude and got only a couple of token meetings in the White House during briefing sessions. We didn't withdraw from Nato and we might have suffered blows to our pride, but we did ultimately get Dumdum out of office with out system intact. The whoe thing exposed the GQP for what they have become and I hope a lot of people are asking some very serious questions about the origin of Dumdum hysteria.
Dumdum, of course, is incapable of loyalty and is grateful to no one, ever. It was a bad blunder to think he could be controlled.
Putin is in trouble. I think the FSB and GRU brass are likely furious, since they know a lot of their psyops are about to be exposed and countered. They've already lost one ransomware factory, although we don't know who's responsible yet. Oh, yeah, they're annoyed.
