Senate wraps for the year, punting Build Back Better, voting rights

Source: MSN

The Senate adjourned for the year early Saturday morning after a marathon of votes that lasted throughout the day Friday, into a rare all-night session and threatened to drag into next week without an agreement.

The Senate will now return to Washington on Jan. 3, absent seconds-long, constitutionally mandated sessions over the holidays where no votes will occur and only one senator will be present.

As part of the deal, the Senate confirmed roughly 50 nominees during the lengthy session that started on Friday and wrapped in the pre-dawn hours of Saturday morning, including long-stalled ambassadors and several district court judges.

But leaving for the holidays officially punts both President Biden's climate and social spending legislation and voting rights legislation, which would require a change in the Senate rules, into next year.

I really hope they come back with some fire in January because a lot of people are super frustrated with this Dem congress right now.

Some good details in the full piece, some hope at least.

They are the ones that are dragging down the Democratic Party with low approval ratings and making us look like idiots in front of the American people...only because THEY want what THEY want!! Like Bernie Sanders said that there were alot of things that he wanted in and out of the BBB package but he compromised. I hope they look at some Republican Senators that might want something in the BBB package and possibly strike a deal with them. ( I know..dreaming). Now is the time to start airing on tv in their respective districts and let the people know what Manchin and Sinema are really doing or should I say NOT doing for their contiguents. So pissed at those two. I feel like wiping that smirk off Manchin everytime I see that asshat and Sineman too. OK breathing now..

They should have to stay until their get their job done. They work for US..we’re their employer n if I took off for three weeks n did not finish my work, I wouldn’t have a job to come back to. We get what we demand n I don’t see any outrage.

Not realizing that anyone who is paying attention already scorns the Republicans and those who embrace the GOP will do so no matter what.

And regardless of how voters' minds are already made up, in so many red states the GOP has gerrymandered to get an additional 15% Congressional House seats. Not to mention their entire fine tuned arsenal of voter suppression tactics which are proceeding unhindered.

Unless the Democrats get off their asses and act, we WILL lose the House in 2022 and do even worse in 2024.
