Twitter permanently suspends Marjorie Taylor Greene account over COVID-19 misinformation
Source: The Hill
Twitter said on Sunday it permanently suspended the personal account of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) over the social media platforms COVID-19 misinformation policy.
The social network said in a statement that it took the action after "repeated violations" of the policy.
We permanently suspended the account you referenced (@mtgreenee) for repeated violations of our COVID-19 misinformation policy. Weve been clear that, per our strike system for this policy, we will permanently suspend accounts for repeated violations of the policy, a Twitter spokesperson told The Hill in a statement.

Greene, R-Ga., appears to still have access to her professional account, @RepMTG, but Twitter did not say what was tweeted to earn a permanent suspension.
Greene said, in a statement Sunday through her office, that she was suspended for tweeting statistics from the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System.

Twitter on Sunday permanently suspended the personal account of Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican of Georgia, after the company said she had violated its Covid-19 misinformation policies.
Twitter said that Ms. Greene had a fifth strike, which meant that her account will not be restored. The company had issued her a fourth strike in August after she falsely posted that the vaccines were failing. Ms. Greene was given a third strike less than a month before that when she had tweeted that Covid-19 was not dangerous for people unless they were obese or over age 65, and said vaccines should not be required.
Ms. Greenes official Congressional account, @RepMTG, remains active because tweets from that account did not violate the services rules. Weve been clear that, per our strike system for this policy, we will permanently suspend accounts for repeated violations of the policy, Katie Rosborough, a Twitter spokeswoman, said in a statement. Ms. Greene did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Her suspension comes as coronavirus cases have surged again in the United States from the highly infectious Omicron variant. New York State recorded over 85,000 new coronavirus cases on the last day of 2021, the highest one-day total in the state since the pandemic began, officials announced on Saturday.

(128,905 posts)that is completely taken out of context. We have had some one and done anti-vax trolls post on DU doing that sort of thing.
And as a FYI - "VAERS" isn't a sub-group but is actually a database that regulated industry reports their vaccine adverse events reports to ( "VAERS" = "Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System" ).
The one for drugs is called "FAERS" ( "FDA Adverse Events Reporting System" ) and the one for devices is "MDR" ( "Medical Device Reporting" ).

(8,702 posts)Most reports are made by health professionals- you can actually read the reports - very detailed reports to write - you need Vax number, history of patient, current meds - tests done on patient -people say its hard to fill out.

(45,433 posts)Good luck proving this in court:
You can search through it as much as you want on CDC Wonder here: https://vaers.hhs.gov/data.html
I searched through Moderna and saw things like Hunger, Fear, Mood Swings, Anger, etc.
I suppose my adverse event is that I am very skeptical of some of these reports.

She will be re-elected in 2022; her district would rather cut off a limb than vote for a "Communist Democrat".

(5,586 posts)I'd rather the media and a shitload of other randos be talking about Trump's crazy ideas, incessant bitching, and general unpleasantness, than to have moved him to the background like most of them have.
75 million of those fuckers voted for him in 2020, and if we didn't have the largest turnout ever, by far, he'd still be President. With him in the background, some number of Biden voters have forgotten how bad he was, how dangerous he was, how irrational and fucking bonkers having him in the Oval Office was.
I honestly don't know if we can duplicate that turnout again, especially after a bunch of Repub states have modified their voting laws. Arizona and Georgia have both passed voter suppression laws this year, and those states were critical to Biden's win. We're going to struggle to even re-elect Warnock, much less go for a Dem in 2024.
So by all means, enjoy the blissful silence.
