Ron Johnson escalates attack on vaccines: 'Why do we think that we can create something better than God?'

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) this week doubled down on his campaign to promote the so-called "natural immunity" that occurs after one has been infected by Covid-19.

During an interview with WCPT, Johnson said that vaccine scientists are wrong to think that they "can create something better than God."

The Wisconsin Republican recalled that he had tested positive for Covid-19 last year while being free of symptoms.

"Why would we just automatically assume that our natural immunity is going to be awful?" he ranted. "You would think the default position would be, if you've already had it, you ought to be pretty well protected. Why do we assume that the body's natural immune system isn't the marvel that it really is?"...................................

Johnson should forgo ALL medicines when he gets sick.

This is unhinged, even by Ron Johnson’s standards.

He continues to be one of the biggest obstacles to us getting out of this pandemic—undermining vaccination efforts, spreading lies, and costing lives.

I got in this race because I know how important it is that we defeat him.

SEN. RON JOHNSON (R-WI) on natural immunity: "Why do we think that we can create something better than God in terms of combatting disease? There are certain things we have to do, but we have just made so many assumptions, and it's all pointed toward everybody getting a vaccine."

Drummond: Yes! The individual human mind. In a child's power to master the multiplication tables, there's more holiness in that than all your than all you amens, or holy-holies, and hoshannahs. An idea is a greater monument than a cathedral, and the advance of the human mind is more of a miracle sticks turned to snakes and parting of the waters. But that will stop because Mr. Brady frightens us with a fable? Gentlemen, progress has never been a bargain. You have to pay for it. Sometimes I think there's a man who says "Sir, you can have a telephone, but you lose privacy and the charm of distance. Yes, madam, you can vote, but you lose power to hide behind your powerpuff or your petticoat. Mister, you can conquer the air, but the birds will lose their wonder and the clouds will smell of gasoline. Darwin took us to a mountain to look back to see from whence we came but for that insight, for that knowledge, we must give up faith in the pleasant poetry of Genesis."

You see Ron scientists can measure a person's level of antibodies to an infectious agent
and the more antibodies you have the more immunity you have to that agent (virus).
When microbiologists, doctors, and immunologists have measured the amount of antibodies
one has to the C-19 virus comparing people who have had the disease to those who have
been vaccinated against the disease the vaccinated people have had more antibodies.

Has Ron been to the Dr. Sebagh School of Ze French cantaloupe college of knowledge?

Wed Jan 5, 2022, 09:19 AM

It really is superior because you develop immunity far more than just the antibodies to a few proteins on the spike, including the mucosal immunity the vacc doesn't provide for. That's how you develop "super immunity" if you both recovered and are vaccinated. That's also why the older vaccs work so spectacularly by exposing you to the entire, denatured virus.

Real issue with these religious nuts are:

How many are going to die or become permanently disabled trying to get it "naturally"? How many are you going to kill when you catch it and spread it to others? A simple vacc stops the death.

Then again, they go to heaven, right? Worst case, they recover, best case, they go to heaven :/

Tue Jan 4, 2022, 07:28 PM
Jan 2022

Or pretty much any religious believer who has thought through the "how God works in the world" argument. Collins covered this in a "Thought for the Day" for BBC radio, just a few days ago:

I recently took part in a podcast about God and the pandemic. Afterwards, an elderly church member sent me a question. “I’ve prayed for God to protect me from COVID”, she said “So if I take the vaccine, doesn’t that mean I don’t really trust in God?”
...
As the Director of the National Institutes of Health, I’ve seen all of the tools of science brought to bear on this the worst pandemic in more than a century. With many of my colleagues I’ve worked 100 hours a week - desperate to alleviate the terrible suffering and death we have seen across the globe. I have also prayed for answers. And when, just over a year ago, the rigorous clinical trials to test the vaccines revealed an astounding 95% protection against infection, I confess that I cried – and then I gave thanks to God. That scientific result was built on decades of research and an intense effort of scientists in every sector to work together – but it was also an answer to prayer.

For me as a Christian, that is often how God answers prayer – by working through human endeavor. Does that make those answers any less wondrous? I don’t think so. For me Science is a way of understanding God’s creation. The laboratory is not so different from the cathedral.

So, to the earnest church member I say – your prayers have been answered. God has given you a gift in the vaccine. But you have to open the gift. Give thanks -- and then roll up your sleeve.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0bdr8f6

"Thanks to God and to the work of many, we now have vaccines to protect us from Covid-19," Francis said. "They grant us the hope of ending the pandemic, but only if they are available to all and if we work together."

He certainly doesn't "design" all that well. Vertebrate eyes, for instance, are all wired backwards. Granted, our group of species have evolved to overcome this "design" flaw and use it for better color vision, but that also plays hell with our night vision.. Kind of like taking lemons and making lemonade I guess. But why repeat the same damn screwup in every single vertebrate species? If we didn't know better, we'd think we'd all evolved from common ancestors who possessed the same screwed up eye "design." Maybe that's like God planting all those neat fossils just to fuck with us.

63. Yes, we should get rid of the entire health care sector of our economy, saving 1/5 of GDP

since clearly God can do a better job of it, for free.

U.S. health care spending grew 9.7 percent in 2020, reaching $4.1 trillion or $12,530 per person. As a share of the nation's Gross Domestic Product, health spending accounted for 19.7 percent.

Wow, I didn't think health care had reached 1/6 of GDP. So was surprised to see very nearly 1/5 of GDP.

Simple!

Do you want to go back to the days a woman had 10 kids but only 2 survived to adult age?
(Oh, sorry, 4 survived but two spent the rest of their short lives in an iron lung. Polio, you know.)

Do you want to go back to the time where people say 'Grandpa did well, others in the family tree died long before him. He made it to 42!'

But if you want invoke some Deity:

That Deity created the virus, but also gave men the smarts and tools to avoid dying from them.

Ron? You are such a (naughty words deleted, but use your imagination.)

Everything said about it is all kind of silly.

But for Ron he must have a pretty horrible god if it creates a virus that kills about 5 million of us but our vaccines are useless against it. Sounds to me that it's trying to kill us all. What a psycho god he has.

Men create their Deity in their own minds to reflect their own personality, values and thoughts.

That is fine. But keep that Deity to yourself.

Pushing your version of a Deity onto others, definitely isn't. Especially if it is a Ron J style Deity.

30% fatality rate

Those who survive are scarred for life.

Doesn't exist anymore because of vaccines.

My great aunt died of TB, and I'm old enough to remember kids who would scream because those metal leg braces they had to wear after polio HURT.

I know some of you do not believe in a higher power. I do. And I'll tell you - this higher power gave us BRAINS so we could figure out stuff. Including how to heal, and how to make vaccines.

This guy is - well, I don't have the words. Either he is dumb as a sack of coal like Louie Gohmert, or he KNOWS and is just saying this because the people who vote for him are this dumb.

Which is, that scientists *haven't* assumed anything, but rather perform scientific studies to test a hypothesis--in this case, whether "natural" immunity or "vaccine-induced" immunity is superior; and from what I've read, found that vaccine-induced immunity is superior.

To say nothing of the other benefits of the vaccine, mainly that it drastically cuts severity of illness and chance of death--and thus reduces the tremendous strain on our healthcare system.

This dissing of God has to stop.

Johnson is a prime example.

He no doubt rode in a car to get to this interview.

How arrogant, to think that a man made machine is better than the two legs God made for the Senator.

If God wanted us to have the wheel, he would have put one in the Garden, or have them grow on trees.

For shame Senator, for shame!

Johnson’s daughter was born with her aorta and pulmonary artery reversed. Known as a Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA). Surgery and SCIENCE saved her life.

Russia Ron often said his reason for entering Washington politics was a mission of repealing the Affordable Care Act. BS. It was to pass the tax cuts for the rich that benefited grifters like him.
