New U.S. Postal board chair backs DeJoy, urges Congress to approve reforms

WASHINGTON, Jan 12 (Reuters) - The new chair of the U.S. Postal Board of Governors endorsed the leadership of Postmaster General Louis DeJoy and called on lawmakers to approve a sweeping financial reform measure.

The board on Wednesday unanimously elected Roman Martinez, a retired investment banker as chair after President Joe Biden declined to renominate Ron Bloom to a new term on the board.

Martinez, who was nominated by then President Donald Trump to the board, praised DeJoy’s tenure. He is the “person to carry out the restructuring that is needed... He is a transformational leader.”

but in the meantime, the board has voted to make a Trump appointee the chair of the board. president Biden nominated 2 new members around 2 months ago who are still waiting to be confirmed by the Senate. Everyone thought that once the 2 new members were confirmed there would be a majority on the board to fire DeJoy. So much for that idea.

That is not hype nor attitude. I mean exactly what I wrote. He destroyed millions of dollars of USPS property when he had the sorting machines ripped out. So far as I know he's violated several components of the contracts USPS has to serve the public efficiently. USPS is not a private company since it receives funds from Congress to operate and does so under contract..

DeJoy may serve at the pleasure of the BOG but he is still operating under us law, which it would seem he has violated several times. The leadership of the BOG and DeJoy have acted with malicious intent to delay and interfere with the efficient delivery of the mail, and the employees so assigned to it. They would appear to be dismantling a federally OWNED national resource which is in critical need during the pandemic.
