A Wisconsin judge rules absentee ballot drop boxes are not allowed under state law Facebook Twitt

A Waukesha County judge has ruled that absentee ballot drop boxes are not allowed under Wisconsin law, a ruling that could potentially remove an option for voting ahead of the state's crucial midterm elections.

Ruling from the bench Thursday, Circuit Court Judge Michael Bohren ordered the Wisconsin Elections Commission to rescind its guidance to clerks on how to use the drop boxes, saying the WEC had exceeded its authority when it issued the recommendations.

"In looking at the statutes, there is no specific authorization for drop boxes," Bohren said.

Bohren's ruling sided with the conservative Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty in its lawsuit against the commission. The ruling is all but certain to be appealed.

5. Any state that doesn't have universal Vote By Mail is living in the Dark Ages.

Freaking UTAH has it and they don't whinge about fraud.

Drop boxes for ballots are everywhere in my city. Fraud is virtually non-existent.

The no specific authorization argument also mean there's no specific prohibition, Judge Ballsack.

15. Voting by mail is legal in Wisconsin

https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/Vote-Absentee-by-Mail

You need to be a registered voter, and then you need to request the vote-by-mail ballot.
I believe it's the same in all or most states.

8. Waukesha County is where all this crap started and continues to fester. If i own a business anywhere

in Wisconsin and was hiring. In reviewing the applicant's CVs and I saw that anyone of them lived in Waukesha County. I would immediately file it in the round file. NOT QUALIFIED!

12. Take it to the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

I think it will get a fair hearing there.
