US: Swift, severe response if Russia sends troops to Ukraine

Source: AP

By MATTHEW LEE and FRANK JORDANS

BERLIN (AP) — U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned Thursday that there would be a “swift, severe” response from the United States and its allies if Russia sends any military forces into Ukraine.

Blinken’s comments in Berlin appeared to be another effort to clear up any confusion about the position of the U.S. and its NATO allies after U.S. President Joe Biden was heavily criticized for saying a “minor incursion” by Russia would elicit a lesser response.

“If any Russian military forces move across the Ukrainian border and commit new acts of aggression against Ukraine, that will be met with a swift, severe, united response from the United States and our allies and partners,” Blinken told a news conference with his German counterpart.

Later, Blinken accused Russia of threatening the foundations of world order with its buildup of an estimated 100,000 troops near Ukraine’s border. He said Russia must face a concerted and severe global response if it invades.

Why the long route back & forth instead of straight over Europe?

He bombed the Russian troops in Syria and almost got us into WW3 with them. Biden has a cooler head and will find a way out without American deaths.

18. Where in the article does it discuss "bombing Russian troops?"

The only ones bombed were Syrians and mercenaries. Mercenaries are not Russian "troops." No more so than Blackwater goons are U.S. troops.

The Russians learned a hard lesson that day; around 200 were killed
I believe Biden would have done the same thing. If he were to be asked; during an attack responses aren't requested. And it certainly wouldn't get to the Presidential level if they were

My guess is Poot’s intent was to “accidentally in the heat of battle” overrun the US position with “mercenaries” which I guess further were probably fully trained and equipped Russian soldiers. Maybe he calculated that would drive Americans to demand our troops be taken out of harm’s way. They attacked, and got their clocks cleaned.
