At a secret location in Ukrainian city of Lviv, the windows taped up to ward off unwanted attention, underground hobbyists improvise deadly drones bound for the front line of the war against Russia.
On a cluttered table the X-shaped frame of one drone stands among bundles of plastic propellers and sachets of minuscule screws. Soon it will take flight with its payload: a wine bottle-sized antitank grenade designed to plunge on Russian armour.
Two other drones are already affixed with quad propellers, their squat bodies gaping with miniature bomb bays to rain explosives on Russian infantry challenging Ukrainian defenders to the north and east.
One more the shape of a stealth bomber, the size of a bird of prey will conduct reconnaissance missions for artillery squads, spotting targets and marking them for incoming fire.

(21,648 posts)Here's hoping the good people of Ukraine can have their victory parade - and soon.
And when they do, Joe Biden can hold his head high because U.S. support - in terms of much-needed funds, weapons, and crucial satellite intelligence - will do down as one of the decisive factors in what many thought unthinkable just six weeks ago: Russia's defeat.
Another great reason to be grateful it's Biden - and not Needy Amin - who's president right now.

May they be able to start rebuilding soon - and may it be paid for with all that offshored Russian loot they've put liens on.

It looks like the best the Russians have come up with is mounting guns on 4WD pickup trucks.
And they don't have enough sense to be embarrassed.

The word is out they are developing attack drones in Lviv. Whether it's actually in Lviv won't matter to the Russians. They'll use the public information that they are being developed in Lviv as an excuse to bomb Lviv. Not that they need an excuse.

(22,845 posts)They don't need an excuse to bomb Kyiv. I thought your point was that it might pinpoint the location of the drones.I suspect it is nowhere near either city.
