Biden Warns Amazon 'Here We Come' After New York Union Vote

Source: Bloomberg/MSN

36 mins. ago.

(Bloomberg) -- President Joe Biden took a shot at Amazon.com Inc. over its battles with workers seeking to unionize.

Speaking to members of North America's Building Trades Unions in Washington, Biden touted his administration's efforts to make it easier for workers to form labor unions. "By the way, Amazon, here we come," the president said, drawing applause.

The comments come on the heels of a victory for New York warehouse workers who formed a union in the face of opposition from Amazon.

"That's what unions are about -- about providing dignity and respect for people who bust their neck," Biden said. -

But you know how Amazon's corporate management will respond to this. They'll say that because labor costs are going to increase, they're going to have to raise prices, so Amazon Prime (which already went up this year) will take a jump in the subscription rate. That's totally avoiding the fact that the company will still have been raking in massive profits and would still be raking in massive profits despite any increase in labor costs. It just won't be enough/as much as before...and god forbid that profits aren't as much as before.🙄

In my mind, profit is profit, and as long as you're profitable, why are you so fucking obsessed with profits having to increase? At some point, you can't squeeze any more blood from the fucking turnip, ya know?
