NBC News journalists vexed by MSNBC's move to hire White House press secretary Jen Psaki

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by Omaha Steve (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum).

Source: CNN

New York (CNN Business)NBC News journalists are troubled by and have expressed dismay to network executives about MSNBC's intention to hire White House press secretary Jen Psaki when she exits the Biden administration, people familiar with the matter told CNN.

Noah Oppenheim, the NBC News president, even held an impromptu phone call Friday so that he could address the matter with vexed staffers from the Washington bureau, some of whom have complained to their superiors that the tentative hiring tarnishes the NBC News brand.
Oppenheim, attempting to quell the anger, reaffirmed the distinction on the call between NBC News and MSNBC's opinion programming, some of the people familiar with the matter said.

Oppenheim, who does not oversee MSNBC, told the journalists that NBC News did not have a role in hiring Psaki. And he noted to those on the phone that they work for the NBC News brand and that the hires made for MSNBC's opinion arm should be viewed as unrelated to their work, the people said.

For some reason it has disappeared but the cached version is here:

https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:cQswPgRsZFoJ:https://www.yahoo.com/video/almost-every-white-house-press-184558165.html+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

Anyway, it noted that almost every WH press secretary over the last 20 years went on to a cable news gig.

TRUMP
Kayleigh McAnany: Fox News
Sarah Huckabee Sanders: Fox News
Sean Spicer: Newsmax TV
Stephanie Grisham: No cable news gig!

OBAMA
Josh Earnst: NBC/MSNBC
Jay Carney: CNN
Robert Gibbs: NBC/MSNBC

GEORGE W. BUSH
Dana Perino: Fox News
Ari Fleischer: Fox News
Tony Snow: CNN
Scott McClellan: No cable news gig!

And then of course there are people like George Stephanopolous from earlier years. Not sure why there's such a fuss about Psaki all of a sudden.

Edited to add: I see the Axios article was linked in a post above.

He's no more qualified for his job than Tim Russert's kid was, or Dancin' Dave Gregory (R-Karl Rove's Dancing Partner) and Jen Psaki being there would limit his ability to "both sides" issues.

ETA: This is also them probably trying to look "independent" after CBS just hired Mick "The Knife" Mulvaney (R-Lying POS), but he's a partisan hack, not a competent purveyor of facts like Jen Psaki.

So in an 18 hour day news cycle, females anchor or co-anchor 12 hours.

If Andrea Mitchell (she's 75) retires anytime soon, maybe some male journalists were looking to fill that slot and now see Psaki taking that slot.
