U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi backs Congresswoman Shontel Brown in 11th Congressional District primary
WASHINGTON D.C., DC Congresswoman Shontel Brown pledged to work with Democrats and President Biden during last Augusts primary campaign that decided who would finish the term of former U.S. Rep. Marcia Fudge, who stepped down to join Bidens cabinet.
Congresss most powerful Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi -- repaid Brown for her loyalty today with an endorsement in next months primary. Brown faces former State Sen. Nina Turner, a more progressive Democrat who has promised to shake up Congress.
Unlike last Augusts crowded primary, Brown only faces Turner. And the district no longer includes parts of Summit County, which were eliminated in the redistricting process.
In just six months, Congresswoman Shontel Brown has emerged as a trusted colleague in our Caucus who is intensely focused on delivering results for the people, Pelosi said in a statement released through the Brown campaign.

(58,785 posts)in 2016 (or ever) have regretted it since? I always wonder on threads about Turner, and/or her crowd.
We hear a lot from those Turner supporters who've stayed loyal, but rarely from others, even with the enormous dangers today of the fall of democracy to authoritarian government. (Do some still imagine it could be replaced with a LW authoritarian version and do away with capitalism and "the establishment" Democrats are desperately fighting to save?)
Thanks, of course, to those who wish they could do 2016 over again and vote to undo.
Fortunately, Shontel Brown's list of endorsements gets longer and more impressive all the time, reflecting her impressive achievements in congress (already!), and her good character and judgement. Of course our most powerful, genuine progressive adds hers. One historic achiever already in the history books to one who someday may well also be.

(58,785 posts)This was during that attempt by hostile LW populists and socialists to create a "Demexit" movement ahead of the 2016 elections that would bring down the Democratic Party for good. Ambitious fringe, and very on point because most of those have been continuing their efforts right through this election, the 2016 disaster still ongoing.
With a lot of help from others and some really bad times, they've had a moment. We need to put an end to this one the way our grandparents did in the 1930s and '40s. By voting them harmless.

(58,785 posts)Including maybe why you don't dislike Republicans so much comparatively? Given the grave danger they present to democracy and great harm they're able to inflict on others, due to their sheer huge numbers and the enormous power of RW power blocs, I'd think it'd be a lot more. Turner's extremely small potatoes comparatively, like a hand trowel compared to a corporate farm's fleet of harvesters.
