BOSTON (CBS) — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Congresswoman Liz Cheney are among the JFK Library’s “Profile In Courage” award recipients for 2022.

This year’s theme among the winners was “protecting democracy in the United States and abroad,” the library foundation said.

Zelenskyy has become a household name as he leads his country against the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“In the face of this constant danger, Zelenskyy has led a courageous defense of democratic ideals and political independence,” the library said. “With candor and clarity, he has focused the eyes of the world on the existential threat facing Ukraine, and on the need for robust, uncompromising international engagement and cooperation to safeguard all democratic societies.”

Cheney, who represents Wyoming, is the vice chair of the committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021 assault on the Capitol. She voted to impeach former President Donald Trump, saying he “summoned this mob, assembled the mob, and lit the flame of this attack,” and ended up losing her leadership position in the Republican party.

“Cheney received numerous death threats after casting her vote in favor of impeachment, and yet refused to take the politically expedient course that most of her party embraced,” the library said................................

I mean, come on...his Imperial Majesty Donaldus Johannes wasn't included in spite of all his courageous acts.

--He hasn't retreated into a bunker in almost two years!
--He manages to walk down slightly sloping ramps with only ONE...that's right, ONE...general holding his arm!
--He drinks a bottle of water using only two hands!

I know there are other examples, and I'm sure someone will fill in the blanks that I've left....

She's doing the right thing, and that shouldn't be treated as if it deserves a goddamned award. Where is Kinzinger's award? If she gets one, shouldn't he?

Zelensky definitely deserves it.

Cheney should be congratulated for doing the right thing but she is not on the same level as Zelensky. No way.

I don't have a problem including her, but I agree with you about Kinzinger. I think it would be nice is they shared the award.

Liz Cheney is the best example to be included in JFK's book. Someone who did what was right for the country even though it cost her politically.
