Wichita-based Koch Industries now planning 'exit strategy' for business in Russia
Source: Wichita Eagle
Wichita-based Koch Industries has now decided to pull its business out of Russia, after saying last month that doing so would jeopardize the safety of its employees and allow Russian authorities to take control and profit from its facilities.
President and Chief Operating Officer Dave Robertson sent out a company-wide memo on Thursday saying the company was working on an exit strategy for its roughly 600 employees at its two Russian glass plants, called Guardian Glass. Koch Industries also employs an additional 15 people in Russia who dont work for Guardian.
Guardian is working with its local management team to find an exit strategy that maintains our commitment to employees safety and does not result in the Russian government taking over the plants and financially benefiting from them, he wrote. All other Koch companies, none with operating assets in Russia, have ended or are ending business activities there.
As a company and as individuals, we have consistently condemned Russias action and remain united in support of all employees and others who are harmed by this terrible war.

(17,931 posts)There are no profits to be made in a pariah state with an economy sporting 17% inflation and accelerating, plus 20% interest rates. And even if you could, you can't transfer said profits out of the country. It's a complete write off. Take the hit now and leave. Stay and the risks just keep getting worse.

(5,801 posts)before he goes to join David down in hell, Charlie "My father made his money working for Stalin so what's your problem with Russia?" 666koch666 finally decides to leave. Not that they're doing it for the right reasons--it's the sanctions:
Sanctions announced in early April, combined with the Russian governments response and other actions, have made conditions untenable for Guardian to continue operations in Russia, Robertson wrote.
BTW, if historians get it right, the 666 koch666 sociopaths and their ability to figure out how to wreck this nation should be recorded as the primary cause of the demise of the U.S.A. But hey, they got to keep more money and screw the rest of us so they win!
