Rep. Lauren Boebert's 'Free Speech' Rant Is Immediately Dismantled On The House Floor

Be careful what you wish for.
Extremist Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) ranted Tuesday on the House floor about the alleged censorship of conservatives, railing against the governments new disinformation governance board.
The conspiracy theory-endorsing lawmaker received a surprising response when Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) later took to the floor.
Raskin said Democrats actually wanted Boebert to be able to speak freely so that voters could see exactly what she is like and stands for.
Unlike some of our colleagues on the other side, were not interested in censoring other peoples speech, Raskin told the chamber. We want the whole world to see how the gentlelady from Colorado speaks, in public, as a member of Congress. We want everyone to look at that.

(10,252 posts)Boebert -- eehhh not so much. She is a very stupid woman. I find the most stupid thing about her is the complete lack of awareness of how others perceive her. I feel sorry for her. Not a happy person.

She's deliberately chosen this path to power. She has no shame and I have no pity for her. She may be a damaged person, as many bullies are. That does not give me reason to offer her sympathy.

(10,252 posts)yes, even assholes like Boebert and TFG. Why? Because their stupidity and hatefulness just creates more suffering for themselves and others. We cannot escape the consequences of our actions, altho it may take a while for karma to bear fruit.
Speak or act with a contaminated mind, and suffering follows.
Like the wheel of the wagon follows the hoof of the ox.
Speak or act with a peaceful mind, and happiness follows,
Like a never-departing shadow.
It's ok with me if you're not able to generate compassion for assholes. Many people aren't there yet either.
Best regards

(7,897 posts)I aspired to hold that view through years of abuse by those like Boebert. I have learned that for me at least that is an act of mercy they no longer deserve. They actively wish that me and you, and many, may more inconvenient people would simply die and get out of the way.
After 69 years of tolerance I no longer allow bullies in my life. Whatever foul fate their Karma has ordained let it be soon. They have already taken my peace from me.

(10,252 posts)It is not quite the same as forgiveness, altho it can include forgiveness. For me it is seeing the way things really exist. It is recognizing how people keep making the same habitual mistakes over and over. Keep creating suffering in a never-ending cycle. I could tell you, or Boebert, or anyone Buddhist teachings, but it wouldn't do any good if someone is not ready to hear it.
We cannot change other people, we can only change ourselves. I'm happy that you changed to never allow bullies to abuse you. Thanks for sharing your point of view.

(3,913 posts)end up in prison. My feelings about the bushes, cheney, tRump, really all the Repugs and their owners. As for their voters, I hope they wake up. Id like to speed that process up by revoking a bunch of broadcast licenses. The Germans dont let Nazis spew their stuff throughout their media, and neither should we.
