Source: CNN
Jerusalem (CNN)Palestinian-American Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh was fatally shot while covering an Israeli military operation in the West Bank city of Jenin on Wednesday.
The Palestinian health ministry said she was shot in the head by a live bullet, and confirmed her death shortly afterwards. Akleh's producer, Ali Al-Samudi, was also shot and is in a stable condition, the ministry said.
The circumstances surrounding her death are unclear.
Al Jazeera has accused Israeli security forces of deliberately targeting and killing Abu Akleh and called on the international community to condemn and hold Israel accountable.

(136 posts)Quite a few instances of Palestinians firing blindly around corners without even looking at what they were shooting at. And these were videos taken by Palestinians. Hopefully a full and fair investigation gets to the truth. Very sad.

(33,345 posts)doesn't there need to be a war for it to qualify?
It looks more like straight-up murder.

(980 posts)between Israel and Palestine for the past 70 or so years, perhaps you can define specifically what war is.
Just wondering. Thanks,

(33,345 posts)I believe the UN defines War as aggression by a state against another state. Saying Palestine or Gaza is a "state" is debatable - at least in Israel and the USA, but not in the nations that recognize it as such.
"War" is subjective. Russia says their invasion of Ukraine is not a "war", it's a "special military operation", but come on, that's a war. It's one state invading another state.
I doubt Israel would say they're at war with Palestine. Palestinians would say Israel is at war with them. I don't know what the ICC would say.
If you can define specifically what a war is and were just baiting me, then let me know.

(980 posts)That she was an American citizen. Wheres the outrage in Congress?
Oh, I forgot for a minute. The US Congress is bought and paid for by Israel, in the form of AIPAC (American Israeli Political Action Committee).
If it was some other countrys military murdering a US journalist, it would be all over the news.
