Pelosi: Current Supreme Court 'dangerous' for families, freedom

Source: The Hill

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Sunday said the current Supreme Court is “dangerous” for families and freedom in the U.S., as justices appear poised to overturn the 1973 landmark decision legalizing abortion in the U.S.

Pelosi, during an interview with co-anchor Dana Bash on CNN’s “State of the Union,” said if the court scales back abortion rights on the federal level, restrictions on marriage equality could be next.

“Let’s not take our eye off the ball. The ball is this court, which is dangerous to the freedoms of our country. Beware in terms of marriage equality, beware in terms of other aspects of it, and so it is, let’s not waste our time on that,” Pelosi said.

“The fact is, this is a dangerous court to families, to freedom in our country. And that is why people have to mobilize. My saying is we don’t agonize we organize, we go out there and make sure people know that if they, actually elections have consequences,” she added.

My speculation is that he has been easy for her to “manage” on lots of bills, and that she generally does not support challengers in primary races.

One of these disastrous rulings which could come from the SC, which are not supported by the public at large may bring about change by discomfort. At some point, things will boil over and not only will the MAGATs take to the streets, but we as well. I fear the day but we are up against formidable obstacles like the SCOTUS and an anarchist Republican “party” who more than anything else seem to prefer fascism over freedom. Things need to simmer down but unfortunately only seem to be getting more intense, and partisan decisions may be the catalyst. We could, however, put our big boy pants on, realize the thunder storm ahead of us, and DO SOMETHING, like rebalance the SC before it’s too late.

Fight, damn it!

We admire Pelosi. That said, we anxiously await the turning of the page and the continuation of the bold leadership that she has exemplified during her tenure. We thirst for a clear and forceful declaration of 21st century Democratic Party vision and values.

The 1990s must cede way to the fierce urgency of NOW.

That's all.
Procced with the pillory.

of imagery). We need to use this term over and over and apply it to everything fascist -- the Republican Party today, FOX News and other right wing media, the hate groups included. They are all dangerous to most Americans' freedoms, society's overall well-being, and ultimately individuals' lives.

Loud, constant, frank and graphic! (Note: that's exactly what the right-wing media and leaders have been doing for 25 years while we've been above the fray -- what has that got us?)

those who want abortion as a right if ever needed to be there. Support for abortion rights has reached a record high, and nearly two-thirds of Americans oppose the U.S. Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade, according to a new national NBC News poll conducted after the leak of a draft opinion that would strike down the constitutional right to abortion.

There are other rights too, that are teetering on the edges too, gay rights, interracial marriages, voting rights, health rights (and privacy), you name it, some kind of right, the GOP scumbags will jump all over it and claim it's 'unconstitutional' etc. or some other lame ass excuse and yet still rake in untold billions for their campaigns to stay in Congress, and hyperventilate on very small issues as usual, to distract, to deceive, to pass favorable legislation for them and their billionaire buddies..
