Fetterman wins Pennsylvania Democratic Senate primary

Source: The Hill

Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. John Fetterman on Tuesday was projected to win the state’s Democratic Senate primary, overcoming a high-profile challenge from Rep. Conor Lamb in the race to fill retiring Sen. Pat Toomey’s (R) open seat.

The Associated Press called the race at 8:54 p.m. ET.

Fetterman, who also bested state Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta, held a consistent double-digit polling lead for much of the primary.

The three candidates were largely similar in their policies, but Fetterman was viewed more as a progressive candidate in part due to his past support for Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), sharp barbs against Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), staunch advocacy for a $15 minimum wage and legalized marijuana and more. Lamb, a buttoned-up former marine and prosecutor, was largely pegged as a moderate.

but he went at his campaigning on a deeper level, given that Bernie himself is a millionaire and Fetterman isn't, and exudes "blue collar" right down to the "ink" (tattoos).

Am hoping for a speedy recovery for him as it will now be time to gear up for the final act!!!

He also needs some good vibes from us all, for good rest & recovery, since he just got a pacemaker put in today. He’ll need all his strength to battle the fascist, sedition-loving Republicans in the general.

She was from Altoona, PA. I always thought "yinz" was just her being funny. I guess it's more common than I thought, unless Fetterman knew my aunt !

Any PAers here care to enlighten me ?

As in, “yinz is all jagoffs.”
Pretty much seen as a Pittsburgh-area expression. Altoona is close enough to use that expression.

is more of an insulting way to refer to western Pennsylvanians.

"Younz" (i.e., "Where are younz guys going?" ) is what I heard growing up in the area.

I did not know it was a thing until this thread. I wondered what the billboard was about. Whoever is using it in their ad needs to be informed that it is insulting.

However, I believe it is regional within the suburbs also, as other people who grew up in other suburbs do remember it.

Didn't resort to mudslinging. His tactics has diminished my respect for him. Put yr big boy pants on kid. Respect the folks who've gone before you & be humble. Save the mudslinging for the deserving opponent, the GOP.
