Trump dismisses Hutchinson as 'bad news' during damning testimony
Source: The Hill
Former President Trump on Tuesday dismissed the testimony from a former top aide to his chief of staff, saying he hardly knows who she is.
Trump weighed in on Truth Social, his fledgling social media network, in the middle of testimony from Cassidy Hutchinson, who served in Trumps Office of Legislative Affairs and later as a top aide to former chief of staff Mark Meadows, to the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot.
I hardly know who this person, Cassidy Hutchinson, is, other than I heard very negative things about her (a total phony and leaker), and when she requested to go with certain others of the team to Florida after my having served a full term in office, I personally turned her request down, Trump posted.
Why did she want to go with us if she felt we were so terrible? I understand that she was very upset and angry that I didnt want her to go, or be a member of the team. She is bad news! Trump added.

I guess that's a Hardly Knew Him with Distinction award.

(11,530 posts)When 45* says "I barely know who that person is, they were a nobody" it's pretty telling. He'd be a shitty poker player. It was especially significant that he claimed his own personal attorney was nothing more than an errand boy.

(52,440 posts)How often does the media call him out on his obvious lies?
Yet again, someone says something damning and he trots out the same old lines. Hardly know them, just know them enough to know they're leakers/bad news/liars/etc., but I hired them and kept them on.
Same lies a spoiled 6-year old brat would think of but the media doesn't judge, they insist it's their solemn duty to propagate whatever lies republicans feel like propagating.
Of course, they'd bury any democrat who tried crap like that...

(856 posts)it's meaningless drivel, but what I found more telling was how quickly he shot off the latest version of his standard refrain. He sent it out during a mid-session recess of the committee. He knew it was going to hurt and was dissing her while she was still testifying.

(12,459 posts)He twists up this possible motive for Hutchinson's testimony, that she was angry because he didn't want to keep her on after he left office. Only a sociopath would think it plausible that a disgruntled ex-employee would take revenge by fabricating a detailed story about her ex-employer overthrowing the government. So TFG's blindspot is that his defense, while plausable to him, does not make sense to normal people. It will sound plausible to his followers, though.

Now, can we undo the harm he did to s.co.t.u.s.? Or do we all have to live under this onerous burden of out of control, uneducated, unelected fascists?
