International observers cite 'concerns' in US vote
Source: Agence France-Presse
The 2012 US elections were conducted in a "professional manner," but "real concerns" remain, international observers said Wednesday.
"The electoral process enjoys broad public confidence," Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe mission chief Daan Everts said in a statement the day after the vote that saw President Barack Obama win a second four-year term.
"At the same time, there are real concerns over issues such as voting rights, the accuracy of voter lists, the transparency of campaign finance, recount procedures and access for international election observers."
... Eight states, including Alabama, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Mississippi, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas, denied OSCE observers access and two more, Alaska and Tennessee, offered only restricted access, which the OSCE refused.

my state, michigan with that right wing snake snyder and his defeated emergency manager ballot. It figures. All of the proposals 6 in all were defeated in this state. billions for an unneeded international bridge defeated. sanity did win yesterday, i just hope it lasts.

(2,515 posts)1) The vote to defeat Prop 6 means the bridge is going ahead. 2) The bridge won't be paid for by Michigan. 3) You've probably seen the traffic backups that go on for miles.
admit I really was confused about this prop. and no I hear about the backups from time to time, but since I don't cross the border, I truly don't think about that element of the bridge controversy.

Do it and send the bill to the kkkoch's suckers so at least these billions of *theirs* won't be wasted on nothing.
The problem remains "HOW" to "fix" it: look at Election Canada or *sold* to the friking "pRivate sectoR" ?

Non-transparency is not worth distrust.
If it's not pride, then they are hiding something.
Either way, it's incorrect management of our right to vote.

(392 posts)I see democratic states failed to make the list of states requiring observers. I remember one time I was in Arkansas restaurant ordering breakfast. I asked for sour dough toast and the whole restaurant was totally quit until I asked for whole wheat toast. I forgot I was in white bread country.
I have been in many southern states. Generally the people are great. The problem is that culturally there are some who are stuck in their dark age and refuse to enter the post slavery era. Someday I may return to the south, but my California accent may be a problem.
