Biden visits key swing states as midterm crunch time begins

WASHINGTON (AP) President Joe Biden hit the campaign trail to boost Democrats as crunch time ahead of the midterm elections kicked off, visiting the swing states of Wisconsin and Pennsylvania to mark Labor Day with trade unionists he hopes will turnout in force for his party in November.
The middle class built America. Everybody knows that, Biden told a workers gathering at park grounds in Milwaukee. But unions built the middle class.
Later Monday, he was flying to Pittsburgh returning to Pennsylvania for the third time in less than a week and just two days after his predecessor, Donald Trump, staged his own rally in the state.
Trump spoke Saturday night in Wilkes-Barre, near Scranton, where Biden was born. The president made his own Wilkes-Barre trip last week to discuss increasing funding for police, decry GOP criticism of the FBI after the raid on Trumps Florida estate and to argue that new, bipartisan gun safety measures can help reduce violent crime.

(3,894 posts)about the fact that Biden's crowds have been much larger than Trump's, the latter having had to make his rallies free of charge and get smaller venues, and keep the press from photographing the empty seats. I saw a local news report tonight on Biden's appearance in Milwaukee, which drew quite a crowd. Of course, the size of crowds at rallies isn't really a sign of anything except how good the advance PR people and local party organizers are in any given area, but Trump touts his crowds as a sign of his popularity.
Something else the MSM doesn't seem to be mentioning is the fact that there is a massive inconsistency between their emphasis on the lowest outliers in presidential job approval polls, and the fact that Democrats are pleased that Biden is on the mid-term campaign trail, drawing big crowds and taking the messaging away from the Republicans. Most of them would prefer to talk about inflation and Hunter Biden's laptop, and avoid the topic of Trump altogether, but he's reminding the country how unpatriotic and fascist Trumpism is.
So I guess that the "Democrats are in disarray" theme is out the window, as is the muttering about Biden's cognitive ability, which, when compared to Trump's slurred, pinched lipped, mouthy hour and a half rambling word salad at his rallies, is much more coherent.
A strong economy, no real recession, job growth setting records, inflation abating, gas prices coming down and some legislative benefits like student loan relief and lower prescription drug prices, makes me think November 8th will be a night to celebrate for the Democratic party.
