Running mate.

Although the usual sleight of hand and the usual mantra will apply - "I would love to do be the President of Middle Incomed AmerCa, but them meanie Republicans will not let me."

The Blue Dawgism of the Democratic party means that Austerity is at hand.

I mean, for instance, the only viable candidate for the House, in my neck of the woods, was one Mike Thompson, a "proud" Blue Dog Dem, who came out again and again against Social Security (Though he cleaned up his song lyrics for the last month or so.)

I admit my mind is frayed with pessimism, cynicism, outrage, betrayal, anger, fear and more outrage, so what the hell do I know?

But Yves studies these events like crazy, and his post of a few hrs back is less than reassuring:

And don't forget: Lil Timmy Geithner has been packing up his office (located just some feet down the hall from the Oval Office) so he can make the move over to Citi.

The opposition to cutting SS and Medicare even extends across party lines, as polls have shown clearly and repeatedly. But this vote, in particular, proclaims the people's will as clearly as anything possibly could.

Do we have representation or not?

Our *representatives* appear to need a clear reminder that they work for us. Unless the people raise hell, we are likely to see a betrayal of unfathomable cruelty and audacity. Write, call, protest, talk to neighbors, make this a media issue. Do NOT let them slip cuts through. Remind everyone you know that the middle class and the poor were devastated through policy, that virtually all new wealth of the past 30 years has gone to the top one percent, that 93 percent of the recovery has gone to the top one percent, and that even today, money continues to pour to the top one percent.

It is unconscionable that the fundamental safety nets, a fundamental compact between the government and Americans into which we pay our entire lives, would be cut, against all reason and against public will. AMERICANS DO NOT WANT CUTS. We are supposed to have a REPRESENTATIVE government, not an oligarchy bleeding us. If they do this, this entire election season, during which our party proclaimed itself the defender of Americans and the 99 percent, will have been a vicious joke on and deliberate betrayal of the American people. We will have rulers and not representatives.

We need to do everything possible to raise the profile of this issue. Talk to everyone you know, and raise the alarm now.

We need to RAISE HELL NOW. Call, write, and protest, and go to Washington if you can. Do it for your parents and your children. Do not surrender to the corporate thieves.

We can still make it politically untenable to cut Social Security.

Some of us "retards" have burned out.

And it's an established fact in Calif. - Di Feinstein doesn't listen to her letters, emails or what not - she listens to the money.

Her colleague in the Senate, Barbara Boxer, has CIA-mix staffing her front office - they never allow what people are telling the Office to be sent over to Barbara.

My House Rep, the "Honorable Mike" Thompson goes around the district with a pie chart that shows Social Security is causing our deficit. He is very proud of being a "Blue Dawg." He makes sure to not call on anyone in the audience that tries to tell him that Social Security has a surplus.

Patronage and all the rest of it that comes along with such governmental interventions. Just have this Administration start to listen to the will of the people and then let us folks in the states of California, Washington, Colorado, Massachusetts start growing hemp and weed, and the resulting monies will start to trickle out from those states. (I live in the county that is second in marijuana cultivation in the state of California, and this month will be a record month for furniture stores, groceries, restaurants, book sellers, etc. Hmm, do you wonder why? )

Plus for every dollar of weed grown, a corresponding dollar in Food Stamps and MediCal and other state and county provided services will fall off the deficit columns of those states' budgets. And then of course, there is the decline in prison monies needed!

But that proposal is too simple, and is not a proposal that would let Obama keep his promises to Big Privatized Prison and Big Pharmaceuticals.
