UN nuclear head meets with Iranians amid enrichment concerns

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — The head of the U.N. nuclear watchdog was meeting with officials in Iran on Saturday, days after it was revealed that the country had enriched particles of uranium to near weapons-grade, raising new alarm over its long-disputed nuclear program.

Rafael Mariano Grossi, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, declined to comment on his discussions during a press conference with the head of Iran’s nuclear program, saying the delegation’s work was still ongoing.

“It’s an atmosphere of work, of honesty and cooperation,” Grossi said. He later met with Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi and was expected to speak with reporters upon his return to Vienna.

Earlier this week, the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency reported that uranium particles enriched up to 83.7% — just short of weapons-grade — were found in Iran’s underground Fordo nuclear site.

1. We did have a deal that stopped Iran from building any nuclear weapons and that deal had the ....

..... IAEA given the right to inspect anyplace and at anytime through out Iran and TFG dumped that deal.

2. If only there were a treaty which allowed inspectors to assure Iran was not enriching uranium.

3. And in such a treaty the 1st or 2nd lines said that Iran will never build a nuclear weapon

And the man who helped to put that deal together had a B.S. in Physics from Boston U.,
a PhD in Physics from Stanford, taught physics including nuclear Physics @ M.I.T., Chair
of the Physics Dept. @ M.I.T., and had 30 + years in nuclear non proliferation work and that
would be Ernie Moniz. Ernie along with his Iranian counter part wrote the treaty so as Iran
could never have the tools with which bomb grade material could be produced.
