Fox News Journalists Sound Off on 'Soul-Crushing' Dominion Filings
Source: Daily Beast
I think no regular person could read this and look at Fox like a news organization at this point.
In the wake of bombshell legal filings showing that Fox News executives and stars seemingly sought to pacify their disgruntled MAGA viewers by airing election lies, while punishing and censoring the employees attempting to deliver the actual truth, the above observation has become commonplace within media circles.
But some of the shots are being fired from within the conservative cable giant.
According to nine Fox News staffers and insiders, the pre-trial filings in Dominion Voting Systems $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox News further impugn and sully the reputation of the networks straight news journalists, especially since they show Fox was operating out of fear over losing viewers to smaller right-wing competitors following its Decision Desks early (and accurate) Arizona election night call for President Joe Biden.

That to be honest is unlikely to happen as at most the varies companies would only suspend advertising on Fox just long enough until they believe the heat has died down a bit.

As they have done in past lawsuits concerning censorship and editorial hijinx.

(26,286 posts)should be the cable companies.
If the 5 largest cable companies dropped Fox that would really hurt Fox.

(12,369 posts)The OTA Fox affiliates are nothing like Faux cable, matter of fact, the local Fox channels are pretty good at their programming, I love watching Fox shows like American Dad, Simpsons, Family Guy plus during baseball season, they do a great job of broadcasting.
Their news casts are pretty straight forward and accurate, so why would you want the FCC to take away their license to operate on public airwaves?

(8,914 posts)Their hosts never appear on any Fox affiliates?
They still feed $$$'s into the Fox coffers.
I feel they're guilty after the fact.
Sunday programming has FOX News Sunday.
So yes, I don't believe they're innocent in all this.

(12,369 posts)The courts and repigs would have a field day with that.
What you feel and what's legal are 2 far different things, thankfully.

(6,617 posts)All of the locals are being gobbled up by larger corps who are controlling the narrative of what the affiliates report. So it's not just Fux, but almost all of them. They need to be broken back up and made separate entities that serve their local communities better.

(1,121 posts)because that's not been my experience with the Faux affiliate for the Cleveland market! While not as overtly partisan as their cable sibling, they certainly have a right wing bias and promote their cable programming/hosts.
MarineCombatEngineer
(12,369 posts)spend nights in truck stops across the country and watch Fox affiliates quite often and my experience is far different than yours.
I have not once seen any promoting of Faux hosts on any of the affiliates I've watched over the few years I've been a truck driver so yours is probably an anomaly.
Wuddles440
(1,121 posts)because my sisters have reported such a bias with the Faux affiliate in Pittsburgh.

(12,369 posts)as I said, the many Fox affiliates I've watched while in my truck are far different than what you describe.

(16,382 posts)Like Chris Wallace, for example. I think the so-called "personalities" (Hannity, Carlson, Ingraham, etc.) make the whole organization look so bad that I don't know why any "real" journalist would want to be associated with it, but some of them continue to hold on, for whatever reason.

(16,382 posts)I missed hearing about that, but it sounds like a good move for him.
It's ironic, considering that I used him as an example because he was the only Fox Noise "journalist" I knew by name, other than Shepherd Smith, who went bye-bye a while back.

As soon as you become an employee, your reputation is toast.
What I want to see is Dominion winning their case, of course, then I want to see the court mandate that Fox has to publicly apologize, run constant disclaimers, and risk being fined if they report anything as "news" that is not backed up by fact. I'd like to see a running crawl on their broadcasts with a disclaimer that this is not news. And I'd like to see them prohibited from calling themselves "news."
I'd also like to see the Fairness Doctrine come back.
