Bragg's office accuses House Republicans of 'unlawful political interference'
Source: Washington Post
The office of New York County District Attorney Alvin Bragg on Friday urged House Republicans to withdraw a demand for information on its case against former president Donald Trump, again rebuffing what it characterized as unlawful political interference in an ongoing criminal case.
In a letter to the three committee chairmen who are pressing for documents and testimony about Trumps case, Leslie B. Dubeck, the general counsel for Braggs office, chastised them for choosing to collaborate with the former president, who is now under indictment. A Manhattan grand jury voted to indict Trump on Thursday after hearing evidence about alleged hush-money payments from Trump to adult-film actress Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential campaign.
As of Friday morning, the indictment with specific charges against Trump remains sealed. On his Truth Social platform, Trump has kept up a steady stream of attacks on Bragg in all-caps posts and condemned the indictment.
As you are no doubt aware, former President Trump has directed harsh invective against District Attorney Bragg and threatened on social media that his arrest or indictment in New York may unleash death & destruction, Dubeck wrote.

(2,865 posts)This is the time for Democrats to make a united front and fight against the obstruction, as well as the rest of what's going down with the R party. I agree, muscle up and straighten our collective spines. I think all of us out here in the wild are doing what WE can. I do believe there could be more done on the Dem. government side. Two wrongs may not make a right, but when you have one side doing everything it can to tear down everything around us, it's about time for us to throw a few unwritten rules to the wind and start fighting back every which way we can.
I'm SO glad to see *rump indicted! I honestly didn't think this day would ever come. I've never been so happy to wrong, and freely admit it! Haven't seen any of his rantings yet, figure they'll be down the list and I just signed on. But I say we take the win and press!

(3,598 posts)not realistic, but I'd be happy just to see Bragg float the idea and the MAGAts turn pale and sweaty.

(3,407 posts)I believe "Obstruction of Justice" will make the cowardly lion Jordan crap in his pants, although he should be able to translate how Bragg called it, "Unlawful Political Interference" because it covers all the points.
I didn't know Jordan IS NOT really a lawyer, I understand that he either never took the bar exam, or never passed it.

(8,868 posts)Is already posting that blood will spill, war Will proceed and on and on. President Biden swore to protect American Citizens and I would love to see a Fiery address to the nation, letting those idiots no they will be treated as the terrorists they admire. Get ahead of this potential killing spree and show them THIS WILL absolutely be met with deadly force. And those on media pushing for Others to go out a kill should be treated just as they would an Osama if he were here on our soul calling for death and war.
We can not let this fester and grow while taking a damn high road.

(111,414 posts)After the case has been settled, either by out of court settlement (prudent) or trial (more likely), they might want to investigate. Before the case is settled or goes to trial, it's completely inappropriate.
I think the proper legal response is to tell them to go jump in a lake.

(9,413 posts)His letter says their requests are unconstitutional and they have no business making them. That should be the bottom line. I don't expect the GOP to back down since once they start stuff like this they don't let up. I'm hoping there's something Bragg can do.
