US seeks help to find out who shot 4 bald eagles in Arkansas
Source: AP
PYATT, Ark. (AP) Federal and state wildlife authorities are asking for the publics help in catching whoever might be responsible for the deaths of four bald eagles in Arkansas Marion County earlier this year.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service last month put up a $5,000 reward for tips that lead to the arrest and conviction of those who killed the federally protected birds discovered Feb. 13 near Pyatt, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported.
A joint investigation by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service determined that the birds were shot between mid-January and mid-February. In addition to the eagles, authorities found red-tailed hawks, a domestic dog and white-tailed deer in the vicinity that had also been shot and killed.
Theres, I think, evidence that somebody probably shot (the birds) from the road, but I dont even know that theyre 100% certain of that, said Rob Finley, the Arkansas Game and Fish commissioner for the area where the eagles were killed. I know that they did set up a little bit of an operation to see if ... the people ever came back, but never did.

I loved the show. But my mother, one smart lady, always said when we watched it that it wasn't true. That it was merely the Waltons trying to make themselves look better than what they were. But she would still let us watch it.

(12,215 posts)and in the past we've had people killing many dolphins, many pelicans, many peacocks, many coyotes. The coyote thing is ridiculous. These people post non-stop on social media apps with videos of coyotes walking around at night, and they say "keep your kids and pets indoors!"
In the richer neighborhoods, they even have the topic brought up in city meetings. They want every kind of wildlife removed from their upscale neighborhoods.

(34,112 posts)they are in a load of trouble. Maybe not now but it was so tight when I worked at the zoo. If there was a Bald Eagle feather anywhere but on the bird you could not touch it but had to call the government agency that handled that, they would come out and collect it. If it was a Golden Eagle we could pick them up and call the government agency and they would get in touch with the closest Native group and turn it over to them.
Killing one? That used to be a really big deal

Were there any shootings of people in that area around the same time?
