New details of Jeffrey Epstein's death and the frantic aftermath revealed in records obtained by AP
Source: AP
By MICHAEL R. SISAK and MICHAEL BALSAMO today
NEW YORK (AP) Two weeks before ending his life, Jeffrey Epstein sat in the corner of his Manhattan jail cell with his hands over his ears, desperate to muffle the sound of a toilet that wouldnt stop running.
Epstein was agitated and unable to sleep, jail officials observed in records newly obtained by The Associated Press. He called himself a coward and complained he was struggling to adapt to life behind bars following his July 2019 arrest on federal sex trafficking and conspiracy charges his life of luxury reduced to a concrete and steel cage.
The disgraced financier was under psychological observation at the time for a suicide attempt just days earlier that left his neck bruised and scraped. Yet, even after a 31-hour stint on suicide watch, Epstein insisted he wasnt suicidal, telling a jail psychologist he had a wonderful life and would be crazy to end it.
On Aug. 10, 2019, Epstein was dead.

(11,513 posts)Im sure.
If the notion is to make his death look more like a suicide, this is the story I'd plant.

(12,444 posts)But was he "offed?" Quite possible, if not even probable. There are a lot of people who were his friends and visitors and they wouldn't want their names in the papers.
They still don't know who wacked Whitey Bulger.

The follow up I'd like to see is about the ever-so-sleepy guards-
Are they alive?
If so, are they in the same financial bracket they were before?

(102,461 posts)I agree. It's only a conspiracy theory if it's untrue. There may even be rumblings about what all the ongoing investigations into Trump are finding. Too many so-called "coincidences" in this tale.

Add a few drops to his food to add to psychosis, make his environment unbearable (not hard in prison), have the ag visit him and and suggest his loved ones will be protected no matter what......
Is that murder? If intentional, yes. You don't have to push out a chair to murder someone. You can trick them into doing it themselves.

(9,273 posts)What is the significance of Barr's visit? Did Epstein tell Barr something that he reported back and the decision was made that Epstein was too dangerous to keep alive? Did Barr tell Epstein something that pushed Epstein over the edge?
Early morning here... not awake yet. I think Epstein's suicide was 'assisted'. This is a tantalizing story..

(70,627 posts)... fly "his girls" around and that Trump had used his plane too. Too many "things" surrounding the
end of Epstein's life just don't pass my smell test. The video monitors and recording operations
went out, both guards said they were sleeping (I don't blame them ... nice family you got there shame
if anything happened 'em), and that lock up hadn't had a suicide for years.
I think Epstein's real business was black mail and he had some powerful people who would be happy
if he "was gone."

How did all those things happen at the same time?

(53,940 posts)See post 25. And the facts remain the security cameras malfunctioned conveniently, the two guard were both "asleep or on break," and he somehow got a rope.
Abut snopes didn't actually prove he wasn't there. They just couldn't prove he was.

(32,111 posts)Afterall you can't prove it didn't happen. The idea of a US AG visiting a prison without being able to prove it is ludicrous. No end of people would know about it.

If not, they are still dead, but their family is toast.

(14,921 posts)They didn't prove the negative however, which could have been done by releasing Barr's actual schedule for the time frame.
No matter. I don't think it's true for other reasons, but snopes didn't actually prove he wasn't there. They just couldn't prove he was.

Nicholas Tartaglione faces a possible life sentence in federal prison.
News 12 Hudson Valley/FILE
CNN
A former New York police officer and cellmate of disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein was found guilty Thursday of killing four men in 2015, the US Attorney for the Southern District of New York announced.
Nicholas Tartaglione, who is described by US Attorney Damien Williams as a former police officer-turned drug dealer, faces a possible life sentence in federal prison after a jury found him guilty of killing Martin Luna, Miguel Luna, Urbano Santiago and Hector Gutierrez, according to a Thursday news release.
In 2015, Tartaglione suspected Martin Luna had stolen money from him and planned to confront him during an in-person meeting, to which Martin brought along his nephews, Miguel Luna and Urbano and his family friend Gutierrez, the release said. But the meeting was a deadly trap, according to Williams, and the events that came thereafter could only be described as pure terror.
Tartaglione tortured Martin and then forced one of Martins nephews to watch as he strangled him to death with a zip-tie, according to the US Attorneys Office statement.
The former officer and two of his associates then brought Miguel Luna, Urbano and Gutierrez to a remote wooded location, forced them to kneel and fatally shot them in the back of the head before burying their bodies in a mass grave, the release said.

Nicholas Tartaglione: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know
Nicholas Tartaglione is a former New York police officer who was questioned in relation to Jeffrey Epsteins July 2019 suicide attempt after which prison guards found the disgraced financier in the fetal position inside of his jail cell.
On August 10, Epstein appeared to have succeeded in a suicide attempt as he pronounced dead after being found hanging in his jail cell. At the time of his death, Epstein was not on suicide watch. He was 66 years old.
In December 2016, Tartaglione, who had already left the Briarcliff Police Department, was arrested and accused of killing four men, Martin Luna, Miguel Luna, Urbano Santiago, and Hector Gutierrez, as part of a cocaine conspiracy. The victims were found inside a property in Otisville that had been rented in the past by Tartaglione. Tartaglione and Epstein are both being held at the New York Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan while awaiting trial.
On the morning of July 25, it was widely reported that Jeffrey Epstein was found injured in his jail cell in New York City after trying to hang himself. Epstein was arrested on July 6 and accused by federal authorities of sex trafficking minors in Florida and New York.
. . .
NBC New York reports that Tartaglione was questioned in relation to the incident. In addition, a source told the station that Epsteins injuries were not serious and that the suicide attempt may have been a ruse to gain a jail transfer. At the time of writing, Epstein is on suicide watch.

The Ties That Bind Jeffrey Epstein, William Barr & Donald Trump
Todd Neikirk
Hill Reporter, May 19, 2019
During Attorney General, William Barrs confirmation hearing, he was mostly peppered with questions about how he would handle the Mueller Report. Senator Ben Sasses (R-NE) questioning, however, diverged from the pack. Sasse asked Barr about the lenient sentence given out to billionaire pedophile, Jeffrey Epstein. The future Attorney General told Sasse that he would look into the matter.
This, however, was not the first connection between Barr and his family and the disgraced pedophile. In 1973, Barrs father Donald, the headmaster at Manhattans Dalton School, hired Epstein as a calculus and physics teacher.
While hiring Epstein, a noted mathematics genius, was not strange on its face, the hire was unusual for a number of reasons. Epstein had not earned a college degree as he dropped out of New Yorks prestigious Cooper Union. The other odd circumstance was that the new teacher was only 20 years of age.
Apparently, the hire was a successful one. The New Yorker wrote in a 2003 profile on Epstein, he was something of a Robin WilliamsinDead Poets Society type of figure, wowing his high-school classes with passionate mathematical riffs. Epsteins mathematical skills caught the eye of Bear Stearns chairman, Alan Ace Greenberg, whose son attended the Dalton School. Greenberg hired Epstein as an options trader and the former teacher was able to amass a fortune.
