Pelosi says most people wouldn't let Trump in their house, so why should he be in the White House?

In an appearance on CNN's "State of the Union" this weekend, Former U.S. Speaker of the House Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) weighed-in on Donald Trump's rally in Ohio on Saturday — during which he warned of a "bloodbath" if he loses to Joe Biden and said that, in his opinion, some undocumented immigrants are "not people" — questioning how much more American voters need to see to realize that what he's spreading does not represent what this country stands for.

Speaking to anchor Dana Bash, Pelosi ran through a list of Trump's recent actions and rhetoric from sharing sensitive government information with the Russian foreign minister to condemning soldiers for "losing" by dying in wars and praising Hitler, saying, "We just have to win this election . . . there's something wrong here."

"How respectful I am of the American people and their goodness, but how much more do they have to see from him to understand that this isn't what our country is about?

Wrapping up her thoughts on the matter, Pelosi said, "You wouldn't even allow him in your house, much less in the White House."

But, no, Nancy, this is what the country is about: Slavery, Jim Crow, the genocide of Native Americans, wave after wave of immigrant bashing, religious bigotry, cruelty to the sick and disabled, relentless poverty amidst unprecedented wealth, exploitation of workers, support of oppressive dictators around the world, dropping that atomic bomb...

We have to stop pretending that this country hasn't committed too many awful and unforgivable actions to count. We will never become better unless we face the truth about ourselves, accept responsibility for it all, make amends and learn from those mistakes.

We're here in this hellscape now because Americans keep burying their heads in the sand rather than accepting and dealing with reality.

I believe she is referring to the fact that there are more good people than bad in general, and she's not wrong. But to me, this comes out as pandering.

I agree that we have to learn from history. What the idiot right wing doesn't understand is that learning about history doesn't mean we are punishing ourselves about it. We don't have to feel collective guilt from the horrible parts of our history - working to make sure those things are not repeated is the purpose for exposing all the good and bad we as a nation have done.

The purpose of learning history is to make things right going forward. They don't get that.

Best Speaker in our history. So thankful she's remained in office in these times.
