Judge rubbishes Peter Navarro's effort to get out of prison early by requesting to add 30 days of supervised release

Former Trump White House trade adviser Peter Navarro on Wednesday lost a too-clever-by-half attempt to get out of prison early.

Last week, Navarro filed an emergency motion for resentencing with the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, requesting an additional 30-day sentence of supervised release on top of the 120-day prison sentence he is currently serving for contempt of Congress.

U.S. District Judge Amit P. Mehta described the logic behind the “unusual request” in a 3-page order denying the request as off-base.

“He asks the court to add 30 days of supervised release to his original sentence,” the court’s order reads, “so that he can secure early release based on time credits earned under the First Step Act through his participation in prison programming.”

light and should get at least an additional 30 days. I mean that is exactly the kind of thing he wanted the coup based on.

My county is red (Cowboys for Trump) but we’re fairly reliably blue as a state.

Does his petulant temper tantrum never end?

This fucking tough guy used to wag his finger at the cameras and peacock like he was entering an MMA ring. He's been absolutely bawling about 90 days of the easiest time in the entire federal system. It's truly unbelievable to see a faux tough guy so thoroughly undressed.

given his crimes in the overall scheme of things

has this douchbag been indicted in other jurisdictions?

i seem to recall arizona may have lassoed his sorry ass in their recent roundup of scalawags and ner-do-wells?

Even in supervised release.

But if he thinks his sentence was too short, then maybe the judge will oblige him by keeping him in jail to serve those 30 extra days.

Not that it will happen, but it would be delicious schadenfreude if it did.
