An out-of-town police officer shot and killed an individual early Tuesday afternoon in Milwaukee, said two Milwaukee law enforcement sources.
Brian Steel, president of the Fraternal Order of Police Capitol City Lodge No. 9, confirmed that Columbus police were involved in a shooting in Milwaukee.
The shooting occurred near North 14th and West Vliet Streets outside of the security perimeter for the Republican National Convention, said Milwaukee law enforcement sources, who asked not to be named publicly because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the ongoing investigation.
The Journal Sentinel has reporters at the scene.

Always worrying when an armed outsider comes to town and kills a local.

(71,755 posts)I know I live here. I have met, seen, and got to know some who are wonderful people
but a lot of them are right wingers and racist even some of the black cops are racist too. With
that being said I hope we get to see the whole story about what really happened. However
some Columbus Cops are not slow to pull a trigger and some of them cost the city lots of
money when they arrested Stormy Daniels on bogus charges. Stormy made lots of money
on that arrest including 3 or 4 sold out shows and she got a big check from the city too.
Oh no the man was homeless.

(4,980 posts)if you are almost a mile away from the "zone" then that is a quite a distance of many city blocks. Klanfest is in a building of a couple blocks size. As you move west from Klanfest you are talking about some downtown businesses and then the major interstate I-43. On the west side of I-43, once you have breathed a sigh of relief to be away from the stench of Klanfest, it goes into a mix of old inner city housing/renewal buildings/small businesses and services. I have no idea what these Ohio cops were doing that far away on bicycles to boot. Why on earth is the zone for those cops out that far away from the security zone? The security zone perimeter itself is already several blocks out around Klanfest in all directions.
Disputes at homeless encampment/services areas happen all the time given the various problems that people have. De-escalation is apparently meant in Ohio to be a yelled command to do something and if you don't get immediate compliance then everybody empties their weapon. But as we know the fact that someone has been shot and killed will please to no end the folks at Klanfest and be one of the things they mark down as making their national "gathering" of the Klaverns a success.

(4,980 posts)"outside" their perimeter. He was nearly a mile away from the perimeter and had nothing to do with Klanfest. That's BS writing because it leads the reader who just glances at the article the idea the guy was by the perimeter but not to it yet. BS writers on the JS staff anymore. If an editor made the writer phrase it this way the writer should have demanded their byline be taken off the story.

Five Columbus, Ohio-based police officers shot and killed an armed man just under a mile from the security perimeter for the Republican National Convention.
Body camera and still frames released late Tuesday by Columbus police show the man was still armed with the knives, and lunging toward another man, at the time of the shooting.

(102,062 posts)(a civilian, not a police officer), and was very close (a couple of steps - "lunging" or "running", depending on your point of view), and you can see, in the stills at the end of the footage, that he had a knife in each hand. They had shouted "drop the knife". This does look like proper police actions.
