Jill Stein recruiting Palestinian Americans for her running mate position

Source: NBC News

Green Party nominee Jill Stein has been recruiting Palestinian Americans to be her vice presidential running mate as the left-wing presidential candidate looks to exploit the community’s frustrations with Democrats' support for Israel during its war in Gaza.

Two potential candidates told NBC News Friday they had multiple conversations with Stein about the job. A spokesperson for a third potential candidate, the Democratic mayor of Dearborn, Michigan, Abdullah Hammoud, confirmed Stein asked him if he was willing to be considered for the job — before realizing Hammoud is too young to be constitutionally eligible.

Stein is planning to announce her running mate next Friday. It’s unclear whom she has chosen or if she has made her decision yet. The Stein campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

“It’s an honor to be considered for the position and something that I strongly considered and weighed heavily,” said Abed Ayoub, the executive director of the Washington-based American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, which calls itself as the largest Arab American grassroots organization in the U.S. “She’s looking for someone that really understands and expresses what our community is feeling.”

Marianne Williamson Ends Longshot 2024 Presidential Bid

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/marianne-williamson-ends-longshot-2024-presidential-bid/ar-BB1qQzA9?ocid=msedgntp&pc=LSJS&cvid=7a681052e365450187d1c271cc7de4d2&ei=7

(Bloomberg) -- Marianne Williamson said she failed to meet the deadline to challenge Vice President Kamala Harris for the Democratic nomination, effectively ending her longshot bid.

“We did everything possible to stand for a blitz primary, an open convention and so forth. Yet the way things worked there truly was no way, and all we could have done is create noise,” Williamson said Monday in a post on X.

You missed my point. Stein is trying to siphon off democratic votes in 2024 the way Nader did in 2000. Nader siphoned off enough votes in Florida in 2000 with his big lie that their were no differences between Al Gore and bushthief which was a lie which made it possible for bushthief to get close enough in Florida to have his little brother steal the election for him. Stein is attempting the same for repugs this time.

then under Republican rule people would get so beaten down they would finally RISE UP and overthrow the system.

To which I always responded: WRONG!!! The history of the world is that often a nation or people gets so beaten down and traumatized they give up and it takes generations for them to recover if they ever do. A society can get shut down quite rapidly, people "disappeared" and communications cut off - "rising up" is by no means a certainty under those conditions.

In fact somewhere I read (forget who, someone smarter than me) that "rising up" is more likely to happen when people arent beaten down, when they have rising expectations that life can be better.

Then there's the old argument "I want to vote my hopes and dreams, not lesser of two evils".

To which I reply - my hope and dream is to not live under fascism so I can be free to work towards my hopes and dreams!

Well, that was 25 yrs ago and they were young and naive - no longer in touch so dont know if their thinking has evolved since then.

Strong Leader running as the candidate of one of the major parties, there are two sides; the authoritarian side, and the side of everyone who wants to maintain democracy.

It is unfortunate that this is where we are, and certainly a societal distaste for discussing real issues is a big part of what got us here. But here we are. It's two sides now. And only one of them is pro-democracy.

Increasingly pro-Russia anti-America (meaning Democratic Party -- for Republicans, too, government only means Democrats -- Murc's Law: only Democrats have agency and influence in politics (everything bad is their fault and they're never given the benefit of the doubt because bad motivations are assumed) emotional disinformation designed to make potential Democratic voters disgusted and cynical.

Republicans scaring people that Democrats are dangerous radical socialists; "Left" media scaring people that Democrats are corrupt neoliberal capitalist warmongers more dangerous than Republicans. Can't watch Democracy Now, Amy Goodman, waste of time. Not journalism.

Dropped out of a political discussion group I'd helped start because spent too much time debunking links members increasingly posted. Many members weren't American and no matter how hard I tried to convince them that no, the Obama administration wasn't anything like the Bush admin, they believed Glenn Greenwald or some garbage article from RealClearNewsNow or other Russian sites.

Then the full-on hysterical conspiracy theories of the 2016 and I was glad I didn't have to see former friends go all the way to the hateful dark side.

She appeals to single-issue voters who hold their idealogical purity above the common good. Got to earn my vote and all of that, as though the real world doesn't matter, and to vote for a Democrat is to support the g-word in Gaza.

I have no use for such people. I hold my ideals as dearly as anyone else, but I also choose to accept reality. I was told by one of these knobs that I'm falling for the false dichotomy fallacy. I responded that it's not a fallacy if the dichotomy isn't false; there are only two candidates who could possibly win the election, and none of us can afford to be selfish.

And voting for Stein, or Kennedy, or any other alternative candidate is exactly that - selfish. It's horrifically, disgustingly selfish.

In parliamentary systems, the parties can only govern if they form coalitions. In ours, the parties are the coalitions.

We don’t have to like it, but thinking that voting third-party will lead to the change they want is foolishness. It might bring change, but to a far worse situation. And I have zero patience for ‘things have to get worse before they get better.’ It’s selfish.
