UPDATE: Adam Lanza had an “altercation” with four staff members at the Sandy Hook Elementary School the day before he killed 20 children and six adults there, NBC News reports. It’s unclear what the altercation was about but three of the four staff members were among those killed Friday. The fourth wasn’t at the school that day and is being questioned by investigators. The two semiautomatic pisols and .223-caliber Bushmaster rifle Lanza used in the shooting were registered to his mother, whom several witnesses identified as an avid gun collector. She apparently taught her kids how to shoot the guns. The owner of a landscaping business who recently decorated her yard for Christmas tells Reuters she once showed him a “really nice, high-end rifle” that she purchased. “She said she would often go target shooting with her kids.”

Meanwhile, authorities failed to release a list of victims Saturday morning as had been widely expected, although they promised one would be forthcoming. So far, officials have found “very good evidence in this investigation that our investigators will be able to use in, hopefully, painting the complete picture as to how—and more importantly why—this occurred,” said state police Lt. Paul Vance. He also added that investigators have determined Lanza forced his way into the school and was not let inside by anyone.

what his connection to the school was..so much that he wanted to KILL. Since it was later reported that his mom had volunteered there on occasion and it wasn't her job as a teacher.

And, now they're saying "the teachers hadn't heard of her".. how did the reporters get "these initial reports"? Made out of thin air?

The father was supposedly killed at one point
he had the Bushmaster at the school...he didn't it was in the car....he did
The mother worked at the school...no she was a volunteer teacher's aid...no she has no work history of any kind at the school.

No, his mother did NOT take him to any shooting ranges.
No, there was no altercation the day before the shooting.

A lot of the people I saw them interviewing had no real current connection to the Lanza family...

They want to see some reason for this. But their is no reason beyond a diseased mind.

4. I think we like to hope that some fact is going to answer our questions

as to why this happened. I don't think it really ever will.
My nephew, by marriage, killed a little girl in the woods with a rock. This was 10 years ago. He is now on death row.

I still do not have any answers and have wondered about it every day for a decade.

7. That's the first I've heard of the 'altercation' on Thursday

I'm surprised that isn't the headline - it's the first thing giving us a possible reason why he went to the school (not that we know what the 'altercation' was about, and why he'd have one with an elementary school).

11. In and of itself, the target shooting thing isn't THAT big of a deal.

A lot of families do that without having their kids become homicidal crazyheads. Best to be careful about reading anything more in to this than necessary.

None of us own any guns today. IIRC, one doesn't usually do target shooting with semi-automatic weapons, although I could be wrong.

It's not the target shooting that's the problem: it's the shooting of defenseless human beings.
