Mexican restaurant requires employees to wear anti-immigrant t-shirts

Mexican Restaurant In South Carolina Under Fire For Racist ‘How To Catch An Illegal Immigrant’ T-Shirt

By Scott Keyes on Jan 7, 2013 at 12:30 pm

A Mexican restaurant in Columbia, South Carolina is being criticized for its racist T-shirts showing a wooden trap using tacos as bait with the caption “HOW TO CATCH AN ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT”.

As the Palmetto Public Record notes, a South Carolina reporter tweeted a photo yesterday of someone who appears to be a Taco Cid restaurant employee wearing the offensive shirt.
http://palmettopublicrecord.org/2013/01/07/sc-mexican-restaurants-offensive-t-shirt-how-to-catch-an-illegal-immigrant/

ThinkProgress spoke with an employee at Taco Cid who confirmed that restaurant workers indeed wear the shirt. He also noted that patrons can purchase it as well.

Taco Cid, a one-star restaurant that has shuttered franchises in recent years, appears to have cribbed the design from the “Offensive Obscene & Sex Related Tees” section of an online apparel designer.

There were a bunch of Mexican immigrants that worked at a Taco Bell that was on my daily delivery route. Even though one can only do so much to improve food from that place, whatever they did, made it much better than any of the other locations I've been to.
And the hot sauce was served in little to go cups, no packets anywhere. It was definitely not taco bells hot sauce.
I miss that place.

No fancy decor, no BS, just good food, cheap.
If you ever make it to Charlotte, check out Price's Chicken Coop.
Best fried chicken in the known universe.
It's one of those bare bone, no-frills places. It's probably more expensive now, but still likely very affordable.
But 3 bucks used to get a heaping plate of chicken, one side, and a big fat slice of bread.

and eat lots of low-quality, high-fat, carcinogenic-containing-god-knows-what tacos.

The best tacos come from restaurants that are run by and patronized by Mexicans. Anyone with taste buds knows the difference!

Yet another third-rate entrepreneur took a tip from that old axiom that says "Any PR is good PR." They WANT us to get upset so more people will hear about their restaurant. And this being Red County South Carolina, I'm sure many of them want a meal AND an opportunity to stick it to us uptight PC libs. The more noise we make about it, the more customers they're going to get.

I can tell this because the shirt doesn't even make any sense. If only illegal immigrants liked tacos, why would they be attempting to sell them to the general population?

It's like the owner is trying to make this last one fail.

I just hope that it's in the true fast food style of stand at the register and they hand you food after you pay. If there are actual waiters depending on tips in this place then they're well and truly fucked sideways.

And, less anyone considers my comments impertinent, we can also fight a duel. Oh yes, I forgot to mention that this is the state that fired the official shot that started the Civil War and is still proud of it, and I'm speaking as a Virginian. Does anyone really expect anything less from the plantocracy of this state.
