Police can still carry guns in 'gun free zones'. Ordinary citizens can't. My post was in response to someone asking why someone with a concealed carry permit didn't stop this. A CCW is illegal on this campus because it is a gun free zone.

The CCW holder in that case didn't approach the shooter until after the shooting at the school had taken place and the shooter had left the building. So that likely didn't prevent any additional deaths.

Of the 62 mass shootings in the US in the past 30 years not one was stopped before it was a mass shooting. Of those 0, 0 were stopped by an armed civilian.

It's the "look at my magic rabbit foot. It keeps elephants away" gag.
"How can you tell?"
"Do you see any elephants around here?"

What you'd have to do is look at how many mass shootings were about to start or had started and were stopped. Problem is, until they're "mass" they're either just shootings or, in the case of those that hadn't yet started, a guy with an unfired gun.

Quick: count those, determine which were stopped or inhibited by the presence of armed civilians, and get back to me. There are just 30 years of data to pore through.

"You think an army base is a gun-free zone? "

Actually, yes. Fort Hood is a gun free zone. Soldiers CANNOT carry weapons. Guess who knew that? The shooter! Furthermore, I was simply responding to a person that asked why no one with a CCW stopped the shooter. Because it was a gun free zone, so it is illegal to carry there. That is a fact. It is also a fact that most mass shooting happen in gun free zones. Are you done showing off how ignorant you are?

From December 14 to January 15, at least 950 people died as a result of gunshot. This figure is documented well in the press over the last few days, and does NOT include many non-reported suicides by gun.

Shots fired at Lone Star College campus
By Dale Lezon | January 22, 2013 | Updated: January 22, 2013 1:17pm

Gunfire erupted at Lone Star College North Harris campus on Tuesday afternoon.

The shooting happened sometime shortly past noon at the campus at 2700 W. W. Thorne, near Aldine Westfield according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

Initial reports indicate at least three people may have been wounded. No other information about injuries was immediately available.

"We know that shots have been fired and we are in a shelter-in-place situation on the campus," said Vicki Cassidy, manager of media relations for Lone Star College System. "It's a pretty chaotic scene at this point in time."

But when they drew up the constitution they still thought the British might come back and the weapons they were dealing with at the time were muskets. had they had a premonition that their 2nd amendment would lead to hundreds of millions of guns in the hands of just about any one who wants one. they may have more defined their ideas so as not to turn America into the gun culture it is today.
Actually its starting to seem like the default method of solving many delusional peoples problems is a walk to your local school and lay waste to as many as possible..

What is the tipping point for gun nuts? I don't mean gun owners or hunters. I mean the nuts that think they need several assault rifles with 100 round drums and back up weapons as well. What is the tipping point going to be to convince them that all the guns we have in this country have gone from legitimate home and self protection to being used criminally more often than not.

Two suspects detained after shooting on Texas college campus

By Erwin Seba
HOUSTON | Tue Jan 22, 2013 7:22pm EST

(Reuters) - Three people were wounded, one critically, on Tuesday when gunfire erupted during an altercation between two people on a community college campus near Houston, police said, the latest in a series of shootings on U.S. college and school campuses.

Two people "of interest" in the Lone Star College shooting were detained for questioning, including one with a student identification, according to authorities. "We are questioning them now," Harris County Sheriff's Office Captain W.K. Melacon told a press conference at the scene.

Authorities said the two people involved in the argument were in hospital. A maintenance worker who had been standing nearby was shot in the leg, and a woman with a student ID was taken to a hospital with a medical issue that was not a gunshot wound, they said.
