Osama Bin Laden Death Photos May Be Released

Photographs and video recordings of Osama bin Laden's death may be released to the public, The Atlantic Wire reports.

According to ABC News, the CIA has at least 52 images of Osama bin Laden that could make one's stomach churn. The images in question reportedly are "quite graphic, as they depict the fatal bullet wound to UBL's [Osama bin Laden's] head and other similarly gruesome images of his corpse."

Following bin Laden's death, Judicial Watch brought a lawsuit demanding the release of images from the raid that killed bin Laden under the Freedom of Information Act. Now, it appears that the Justice Department may have to comply in part.

Dan Metcalfe, former director of the Department of Justice's Office of Information and Privacy, told The Atlantic Wire that according to the government's response to the lawsuit, there are parts of the records that are "legally required to be disclosed."

Sadly, inevitable.

What would be the point of that? Chewing on carcasses upsets my stomach; chewing on Osama's carcass would give me ptomaine poisoning.

While few Iraqis were in mourning for those two creeps, it's still something a Muslim just doesn't do.

Feeding the gruesome beast that is the lust for blood and revenge will only lead to more blood and more vengeance. I say bury the photos for at least fifty years. They will be used as a rallying cry against the US. They will be used as a rallying cry by US conservatives to continue to kill people.

until Judicial Watch is bankrupt, and then impose the State Secrets Act. The pictures could be released with certain features redacted to make identification impossible.

You'd think that after over a decade of using that single event as justification for
slaughtering thousands of innocent people around the globe (not to mention the
proto-fascist behaviour in your own country) that maybe you'd grow up and
join the real world ...

The world that has seen over 50 deaths in the Middle East for every single one in Manhattan.

Oh I forgot, only deaths on American soil count. Recalculating ...

The world that has seen over twice the number of "911 deaths" in the troops sent
in the vengeance missions since then.

But they were "brave volunteers" weren't they?

The world that watches over 100,000 Americans die from illnesses related to
overweight and obesity every year. (Ironic when over 3.8 million people around
the world die of malnutrition.)

Why don't you give up with your pathetic grief-fest and accept that there are
more horrible things happening in the world than a one-off event back in 2001?
And that deliberately stirring up hatred in the way that those photos (in the OP)
will be used really isn't a smart idea?

There are folks in the Middle East who are bound and determined to kill each other whether the US is there or not.
I'll leave you to set in your puerile judgment over whose grief is important and whose isn't.
Contact Judicial Watch if you want their reasoning.

True but totally irrelevent. The figures upthread were for the *additional* deaths
caused directly by the US (generously omitting the thousands of indirect deaths)
and so are every bit as important as some equally unknown American killed by
such a statistical triviality as a terrorist attack by foreigners on your mainland.

I have no problems with grief at the time - along with most of the world, I expressed
my sympathy for the horror of the event - but after hearing nothing but "9/11, 9/11"
for over a decade of excuses for American terrorism, I think it is obvious exactly
who has the "puerile judgment" when they mindlessly repeat the Bush mantra to
justify yet more "Team America Fuck Yeah!" jingoism.

Not them again!!! They have been persecuting Democrats since the 90s.

Releasing those photos and videos will be counterproductive. It would probably be offensive to many people in the ME.
