A Republican Congressman this week compared the country’s debt to the United States’ history of slavery.

In an interview with the conservative magazine Newsmax, Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) also equated excessive government spending and abortion, both of which he considers among the “most horrendous things this country has done”:



“Slavery and abortion are the two most horrendous things this country has done but when you think about the immorality of wild, lavish spending on our generation and forcing future generations to do without essentials just so we can live lavishly now, it’s pretty immoral.”

and then Dick and W turned the Clinton surplus into the bush deficit by cutting
taxes on the rich 2 times, starting unneeded wars that were not paid for, and
pushing through a big unfunded medicare part D drug plan.

"They" are not interested in the deficit but in crashing the economy for
what they see to be political gain.

The writers of the Old Testament recognized that when they declared that every 7th year all debts would automatically erased.

So, public creditors should do the honorable thing and forgive the public debt.

But yeah, some Native American Tribes TO THIS DAY will not use or accept $20 bills in protest of what he did while he was President. Can't really blame them; like I said, he WAS an asshole to them.

its root and causes and who the culprits are. Also, wouldn't a pledge of no new taxes be especially immoral? And how does GOP hypocrisy, mendacity, distortion, obstruction, and disingenuousness rank on the immorality scale?

I doubt that we agree on who is at fault and what is the cure, but this GOPher has a bead on the overlying symptoms
