Verizon Stock Was Dow's Best-Performing Ticker Thursday, Despite Negative Press

Source: huffingtonpost.com

Verizon customers may be fuming over the recent revelation that the company is dutifully turning over customer phone records in compliance with government orders -- but that news didn't seem to hurt the company's stock performance on Thursday.

Verizon's stock price rose 3.46 percent Thursday, making it the best-performing stock in the Dow Jones Industrial Average for the day.

Is everyone's reaction to this. Did anybody with half a brain NOT think that the NSA not only had the capability to listen in or capture any electronic communications and in fact has been for a long time? Is anybody really surprised that politicians, law enforcement and intelligence wouldn't use every single option that they could to intercept, interdict or capture terrorists or potential terrorists at their disposal? Is anybody surprised that Obama would do just about anything to avoid another terror attack, however remote, on our soil even if only to avoid the brutal political fallout that would follow? I just find all the outrage amazing, in this age of Facebook, google, cell phones etc....the idea that our conversations are private is to me absurd. I think I'll get attacked for saying this but I have assumed since they caught Pablo Escobar in the 80s after tracking his voice on a cell phone call that this capability existed and that with time will only broaden.

Take it up with your Senator and Representative.

And make sure anyone soliciting political donations knows your views, too.

to my Mom's cardiologist or to my job...knock yourselves out.

At our house we've been asking...do you want this stopped? Or do you want another 9/11?

Exercise your freedoms on that question.

Was wondering when we'd hear that trotted out again.

So what freedoms are you personally willing to give up, and what freedoms are you willing to give up for others on their behalf for the promise that you'll be kept safe from the mean bad guys?

Verizon didn't voluntarily hand over the data. What were they supposed to do, violate a court order?
