Naked BART Acrobat ‘Very Depressed’ As He Sits In Jail Awaiting Fate

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) — A friend of 24-year-old naked acrobat Yeiner Perez Garizabalo described him as “very depressed” as he sits in jail after pleading not guilty earlier this week to two felony and four misdemeanor charges.

His legal troubles stem from his bizarre behavior last month that was caught on tape at San Franicsco’s 16th Street Bay Area Rapid Transit Station.

“He does not do any drugs,” said musician Ben Goldstein, a member of the non-profit ClownSnotBombs circus troupe that Garizabalo was let go from.

“I spoke to him on the phone a couple of times. He’s very, very depressed,” Goldstein said. “He didn’t realize at first what had happened. His memory of what had happened was he was in a play and he was acting out a play at the BART station.”

if you look at his mugshot you can plainly see that there is paralyzation on his left side as indicated with his eye lid.

It is awful what happened to those people, but mitigating circumstances are mitigating circumstances.

10. From the article I read, looked like they were to have him evaulated Tuesday but for some reason...

...chose to arrest him Monday and charge him with felonies and misdemeanors.

On Tuesday, the group added another statement that said it had worked with Garizabalo to have him admitted to a hospital for a psychiatric and medical examination. That was supposed to happen Tuesday, but he was arrested on Monday.

The post, signed by six members of the troupe, said Garizabalo described to them being in a play at the train station on May 10.

"Now that he has seen the video and understands the gravity of what really happened, he feels both guilty and horrible for what he has done," it said. "He is extremely depressed, under a lot of stress and very afraid."
