Kerry sees potential for quick Iran nuclear deal

Secretary of State John Kerry said a deal on Iran's nuclear program could be reached relatively quickly, and it would have the potential to dramatically improve the relationship between the two countries.

Kerry said intensifying diplomatic efforts to resolve the dispute over Iran's nuclear program could produce an agreement within the three- to six-month time frame that Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has called for.

"It's possible to have a deal sooner than that depending on how forthcoming and clear Iran is prepared to be," Kerry said in an interview aired on CBS's "60 Minutes" on Sunday.

Iran's deputy foreign minister says Tehran is willing to discuss limits to its uranium enrichment but will not suspend the process completely.

Abbas Araqchi said in a September 29 interview with state-run TV that "the frameworks, level, amount, form, and place of enrichment are liable to negotiation."

But he said Tehran would only negotiate if the West recognized its "right to enrichment."

5. Did the US ever gas its own people?

The US and most countries are slowly eliminating their chemical weapons THAT THEY ARE NOT USING. Here, there was need for urgency because the weapons are being used and the country is unstable.

Why are you outraged at what ends up being a very good outcome. No imminent US strike and a large quantity of chemical weapons taken out of an unstable area? Both Russia and the US deserve credit for this positive outcome. Could it be that you can't turn off your outrage when the potential source of outrage (an attack) is not on the horizon?

8. Neither are comparable

I assume with agent orange - that was NOT considered a chemical weapon against people - you mean that our troops came into contact with it.

As to - it is not proved - Russia's action showed that they believe it.

6. novel methods of disposal

I propose drilling a several mile deep hole near Area 51, carefully put all the nasty stuff at the bottom and then fire off a small nuke to incinerate it into nothingness. I'll leave the details to the experts.
