Police: Minnesota pastor told girls he could ‘take the demons out,’ raped them for years

Source: Raw Story

A 61-year-old Minnesota pastor was charged this week with raping two girls for nearly a decade.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reported that a complaint filed in Ramsey County District Court on Wednesday said that Jacoby Kindred began sexually abusing the girls when they were only about 6 years old.

After a letter was found referencing sex acts with Kindred, the girls, now ages 14 and 16, disclosed the relationship to their mother. Police were notified in July.

The younger of the two girls told a nurse at Midwest Children’s Resource Center that Kindred began digitally penetrating her at the age of 6. He later forced her to perform oral sex on him and then progressed to intercourse, the girl said.

Beating the crap out of one guy doesn't do much. For every one of these who gets arrested and slapped on the wrist, there are thousands lurking in churches doing it with no consequences.

Many of the people who go into the ministry are there because they have some serious issues and they couldn't hold down a job in a less forgiving setting. You learn a few buzzwords to repeat over and over, and you're in with some of these churches. Add to the inclination toward mental problems the environment where priests are accorded all sorts of deference that they don't deserve, and you have a real problem.

These things aren't accidents. They aren't a few wayward souls. It is endemic. It is a natural result of the that cult atmosphere.

We need to start addressing the root problems here. Where are the PSAs warning parents to look out for danger signs at church?

It makes it seem as if these things only happen with those who have the most extreme views. This type of thing happens in the Catholic church and all sorts of protestant churches up to an including those who are very cult-like. It's a national epidemic.

The truly sad part is the person who was doing this was effectively subsidized by the fed and the state since whatever income he was earning as a "pastor" (if any) was tax free. The time for churches getting a blanket tax exemption is long past. If they are doing genuinely charitable work, they should get a tax deduction for that portion. Everything else should be taxed. We shouldn't be subsidizing child rapists and charlatans.

I cannot think of any better definition of "cult".

If you are suggesting that the"proper" churches (Catholic and name-brand protestant) are not cults, but some of the more offbeat evangelistic churches might be cults, then I humbly suggest you have far too narrow a view of what is a cult. Any organization that elevates its leaders to the point that they feel they are entitled to such behavior, and the membership doesn't question their behavior, is in fact a cult.

And yes, that includes a lot of name brand churches.

and was the worst kind of abuser and sadist, I can attest that you just nailed it dead on. The ministry attracts these types of individual. As you say, a few buzzwords and the faithful will give you the keys to the kingdom, so to speak. Once that is achieved, they've pretty much got carte blanche. You're right, these AREN'T accidents, they're planned with an endgame in mind that doesn't fall under scrutiny. They're VERY good at hiding who and what they are.

for hitting on my aunt. More of that needed.

Also why should anyone ever let there child be alone with a preacher unattended by a relative any more than we would allow that with a doctor. Even as an adult, with a OB/GYN we always had a nurse in the room. Has that been discontinued???

The complaint said that Kindred had maintained that he had done nothing wrong, calling Minnesota a “ladies’ state.”

“You weren’t there, nobody was there!” he reportedly said, adding that the police should “[g]et your warrants, do what you gotta do, no DNA, none of that.”
“These are not really kids,” Kindred insisted the St. Paul Pioneer Press on Thursday. “They have the mind of the adult.” (he has apparently been listening to that damned judge)

“All a woman has to do (in Minnesota) is make an accusation, true or false, and the man’s going to be in trouble,” he explained. (so, the accusation is true, but she should not make it??)

Kindred told police that he was the pastor of One Accord Ministries, which he said had no physical building. He goes by the name “Jacoby Preacherman” on his Facebook page.

A warrant has been issued for Kindred’s arrest on two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct. He faces 30 years in prison on each count if convicted. Kindred said on Thursday
that he was out of town for a funeral.

(out of town for a funeral??? care to bet he does not return?)
