Christie Doc: Cops Told People Bridge Closures Were Fort Lee Mayor's Fault

Source: TPM

ATTN mods ... this is 18 hours old but please let this thread live .... you guys are the best.

ERIC LACH – JANUARY 10, 2014, 6:43 PM EST17142
In a letter to a Port Authority executive on Sept. 12, Fort Lee, N.J. Mayor Mark Sokolich complained that the agency's police officers were telling commuters that the George Washington Bridge lane closings were his fault.

snip

The letter was among the thousands of pages of documents released Friday by a New Jersey legislative committee that has been investigating the incident. The lane closings, which began Sept. 9, led to a massive, multi-day traffic jam in Fort Lee. Democrats in the state have for months alleged that the lanes were closed as retaliation against Sokolich, a Democrat, who declined to endorse Christie's re-election bid last year. The released documents include communications tying the administration of Gov. Chris Christie (R) to the decision to close the lanes.

In his letter on Sept. 12, Sokolich wrote that he had been "incessantly" attempting to contact Port Authority officials "to no avail."

snip

Baroni, who was appointed to the Port Authority by Christie, has testified that the lanes on the bridge were closed as the result of a traffic study.

Now who told the Port Authority Police to tell the upset drivers it was the mayor of Ft. Lee's
doing that closed down all but one toll both?

*************************************

? Officer Smith who told you to tell the drivers it was Mayor Mark Sokolich order to close down
the toll boths?

Officer Smith ..... it was Capt. X

? Capt. X who told you to tell the uniformed officers to tell the public that is was Mayor Mark Sokolich's
doing?

Not only did the Christie admin. shut down the bridge but they then lied about who did it just to fuck w/Mayor Sokolich.

We have a real life conspiracy, criminal acts, and a phony cover up story about a "traffic study" in this GWB thing a bob.

when he closed down the Camden city police force and made them all reapply for the Camden County police - and forced them to do so without a union. Almost a year later, they were barely able to reorganize and get some representation back, although they are starting all over from scratch.

The days of the GOP governors protecting the police unions are over (similar screwing of police unions happened here in PA too). These same FOPs who heartily endorsed these rethug governors found out the hard way when the governors turned around and screwed them as their thank you. This latest crop of rethugs are pure anti-labor (similar to Scott Walker, etc).

The ALEC agenda rules the day now!

ALEC's "Right to Work" "anti-Union" agenda leaves no unions behind as a goal.

We have an idiotic governor here in PA who (while not calling it "Right to Work&quot is bent on contracting out the entire state government, piece by piece. They are getting close to breaking the PFT (Philadelphia Teacher's Union).

We will find out that he was much more involved in this and that he is, in fact, a big fat liar!

Can you imagine if Barack Obama had been the Governor of NJ when super storm Sandy hit and (God forbid) Chris Christie had been President? Yeah, I'm sure the Christie administration would have been doing everything to help a Democratic Governor and its New Jersey residents. NOT!

This guy is Nixonian in that if you cross or slight him, he feels its OK to use the powers of his office for retribution. Should he survive and run in 2016, hope this is not forgotten, but I believe he is toast for presidential aspirations.

...but our population has a notoriously short memory and attention span. What concerns me is that this is happening now, when there's over two years for this episode to flush out of America's collective memory. The Repubs are counting on that (and the billions of Koch dollars at their disposal), because Christie is the only candidate that can mount a serious challenge to Hillary.

Screw things up royally, then project blame on to some freaking innocent party. No wonder Americans think of Republicons as THE Dirtbag Party.

Republicon strategy = DARVO, an acronym to describe a common strategy of abusers: Deny the abuse, then Attack the victim for attempting to make them accountable for their offense, thereby Reversing Victim and Offender.
