A California anti-immigrant group with ties to the white nationalist movement has released a new ad invoking Martin Luther King Jr. in an attempt to appeal to minorities.
The 30-second ad, paid for by Californians for Population Stabilization, began airing Tuesday in advance of next weeks holiday honoring the slain civil rights leader.
The TV ads are running on several national cable networks, with much of the media buy focused on daytime programming that skews heavily toward unemployed minority audiences, the group said in a press release.
The ads show black and white photos of displaced workers as a narrator asks how King would feel about 20 percent of black Americans being unemployed or underemployed.
