NJ mayor: Sandy aid ultimatum came from Christie

Source: Associated Press

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- The Democratic mayor of a town severely flooded by Superstorm Sandy said Sunday that she was told an ultimatum tying recovery funds to her support for a prime real estate project came directly from Republican Gov. Chris Christie, a claim a Christie spokesman called "categorically false."

Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer told CNN's "State of the Union with Candy Crowley" that the message pushing a Rockefeller Group commercial development was delivered by Christie's lieutenant governor, Kim Guadagno, when the two were at an event in Hoboken in May to celebrate the opening of a new supermarket.

"The lieutenant governor pulled me aside and said, essentially, `You've got to move forward with the Rockefeller project. This project is really important to the governor.' And she said that she had been with him on Friday night and that this was a direct message from the governor," Zimmer recalled Guadagno saying.

Hoboken, a low-lying city of 50,000 across from Manhattan, was nearly swallowed by the Hudson River during Sandy, with three of its electrical substations and most of its firehouses flooded, businesses and homes submerged, the train station inundated with water, and people trapped in high-rises because elevators didn't work and lobbies were underwater. Zimmer has proposed a comprehensive flood mitigation plan and has applied for $100 million in grants to help make it happen.

1. Finally the MSM get it right. The 100 million is for PREVENTION, not repairs!!!

I read and heard so many people on TEE VEE and in the various comment sections of newspapers asking what the 100 million was for, that most of the damage was covered by insurance and that Mayor Zimmer was asking for way too much money for her city because so many other cities and towns also had huge damage.

The fact is that Hoboken has brought in experts from around the world to try to figure out a plan to PREVENT the same thing from happening again. If you remember, MOST OF THE CITY IS BELOW SEA LEVEL. Thats what the dough is for. The AP story is the first one that has actually gotten this story straight.

As a friend used to say, well thats one in a row. Lets see how "people" like Joey Scar and the idiots on Faux and Friends spin this tomorrow.

I would imagine its gonna get real stupid...

Well...who are they going to believe...?
The bully who says he is not a bully...or
this lady who sounds honest and all she wanted was the money she needs to protect her town..

Who knows?..
We do..

Oh, I want to add this.....

I recall John Dean testifying at the Watergate Hearings.
There was something about the way he talked, that sounded truthful at the time.
(compared to the crap coming out of the Nixon White House...
I remember thinking to my self, or maybe I said it to someone these thoughts.
"Wouldn't it be great if there were some kind of system that tapped all of this, that could prove who was telling the truth"

And there was. .and, everything Dean said was verified. Almost all that came out from Nixon and his group was lies.

The way it reads sounds like the directive came from his Lt. Governor.

8. It came from the Governor by way of the Lt Governor

As the Mayor recorded in her diary the Lt Governor told her, she had met with Gov Christie on Friday evening and was directed by the Governor to relay the conditions to the Mayor. Did the Lt Governor indeed meet with the Governor on Friday as the Mayor was told? It should be fairly easy to find out. Remember it will be the details that bring down this corrupt bunch..

10. Yes, I know, but we need to be clear about that. It didn't come from the mouth of the gov.

He used his Lt. Gov. to relay the message. Anyone reading that headline would be misled.
