Obama to meet with Pope Francis in March

Source: ABC News

President Barack Obama will meet with Pope Francis at the Vatican as part of a weeklong European trip scheduled for March.

The White House says Obama "looks forward to discussing with Pope Francis their shared commitment to fighting poverty and growing inequality" during their March 27 meeting. Obama also plans to meet in Rome with Italian President Giorgio Napolitano and Prime Minister Enrico Letta.

Obama's trip begins March 24-25 in The Hague, Netherlands, where he will participate in a nuclear security summit hosted by the Dutch government and meet with Dutch leaders.

On March 26, Obama will travel to Brussels for an U.S.-European Union summit with the presidents of the European Council and the European Commission, as well as meetings with Belgian leaders and NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen.

...means the further empowerment of corporations through the passage of treaties like TPP, well yeah.

However, given this Pope's more recent comments on income inequality, it would seem to be less a shared commitment, than their being completely on opposite ends of the subject.

Mr. Obama seems to have been bitten by the hyperbole bug here of late. Calling the creation of another layer of bureaucracy to hold our metadata ''a solution.'' And then comparing the NSA to Paul Revere riding through the night to warn of whether the terrorists come by ferry or by Land Rover. And now this: ''The Corporate Poverty Fighter.''

- Talk about putting your talents in a hole in the ground......

We can not be silenced by the zombies and vampires of greed. Please, don't despair when a religious leader demonstrates courage.

...that's what many people on our planet are: Zombies. Except they're not the dead kind of zombies, they're live zombies. Alive people who act like the dead by not thinking, not remembering, not understanding, not caring. Their cognitive processes all but dead. But I'm not despairing at all, as I've been aware of this for sometime now. I'm just bored at the fact that it's taking people so long to figure things out.

- And yet I also realize that things are exactly where they should be. It could be no other way......
