A Florida family intends to take legal action after a local sheriffs deputy shot and killed the family dog while the familys 2-year-old child sat dangerously close by.
WKMG-TV reported on Monday that a deputy from the Brevard County Sheriffs Department arrived at the unidentified familys home after a neighbor reported seeing the boy unattended.
Officials said the dog, Brownie, behaved aggressively toward the deputy, forcing him to fire. But neighbors and relatives rejected the departments story, saying the childs mother was sitting 15 feet away in a car port. They also accused the unidentified deputy of being the aggressor.
The dogs first thought is, Hey youre walking up to me with a gun, and the dog growls, one family member, Robert Gringas, told WKMG. The dog didnt lunge at him, the dog didnt do anything. The dog just growled and then he put two bullets in him.

(606 posts)Almost without fail, whenever I read about a home being raided, the cops kill the homeowners dogs. It doesn't matter if it's pit bulls or poodles, police "secure the area" by taking out Fido first.

(1,364 posts)heavily armed, the day will come when they will begin shooting back at the cops far more than what is happening today. Cops are not your friends, they are looking for any excuse to use their assorted weaponry, primarily to justify getting such weaponry in their budgets. Bullying as commonplace is being reported more and more. What with the various social media, these actions by the police are going viral more and more often. The slogan on their cars about serving refers to serving their own selfish interests.

I will patiently wait for more on this story.
