Rob Ford calls Monday’s drunken episode on video a ‘setback,’ refuses to apologize

Source: Toronto Star

Mayor Rob Ford called the events of Monday night a “minor setback” and offered no apology in a Wednesday evening press conference.

“As you know, I’m a human being. The same as every one of you. And I’m entitled to a personal life. And my personal life does not interfere with the work I do day in and day out for the taxpayers of this great city,” Ford said. “Monday was unfortunate. I had a minor setback. We all experience these difficult bumps in life,” he said.

The mayor said he is continuing to work on his health, but made no promise future incidents would not occur.

Ford then went on the attack against his colleagues on council, accusing those on budget committee of returning to the “old mentality” of “spend, spend, spend. Tax, tax, tax.”

The provincial capital might have the power but has little interest in interfering with local politics.

You're only human after all! Everybody smokes crack.... everybody gets drunk in public and gets caught repeatedly on video rambling/threatening incoherently... everybody pals around with drug dealers... everybody excuses their drinking and driving by saying "Oh I bet you've never done that!"... everybody says during a live TV scrum that - **ahem** - they have 'enough to eat' at home with their wife standing right there... everybody does all of that and so much more I can't even think of off the top of my head like this!

Everybody is the mayor of the 4th largest city in North America!

Come on people, let's climb down off that high horse, huh?!
