Gov. Rick Perry for decriminalization of pot

Source: My San Antonio

Texas Gov. Rick Perry said Thursday that he's for the decriminalization of marijuana use — not legalization, but the softening of punishment for marijuana users in the border state.

Perry made the comment during an international panel on drug legalization while speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

His spokesman confirmed that Perry is staunchly opposed to legalization of marijuana because of medical issues, but is committed to policies to lower the punishment for its use in order to keep smokers out of jail.

“As governor, I have begun to implement policies that start us toward a decriminalization" by introducing alternative “drug courts” that provide treatment and softer penalties for minor offenses, Perry said.

The party with the courage to champion the end of pot prohibition will be the majority party.

Cannabis users do not need "drug courts", or "rehab treatment".

They need to be left alone to live their lives.

The facts are out there.

The Science is real.

The war against Cannabis has been a sham from day one.

Don't you get tired of the lies and fear mongering ????

The US is floating in a cesspool of stupidity.

Fuck, this is infuriating.

P.S. I have 38 years of personal experience.

When will the horrible side effects kick in ????

When will my fellow Cannabis users be stricken by some terrible disease caused by Cannabis ?

When will one of us overdose on Cannabis ?

38 years, I repeat 38 years.

STOP THE LIES

if you get high enough, the stuff he says starts to almost make sense!

The "alternative drug court" was one of Christie's initiatives here in NJ.

On second thought, I've never been so high that a guy like Perry even comes close to making sense.

That's probably the only reason he is for it. I read there is a bill being written to legalize it like Colorado did. One can only hope.

It sounds like Rick and the Texas repugs want to highjack/guild the train now while they still can. AND before the dems can use it as a issue against them.

Voters in the Democratic Primary in March can vote on this issue. This vote is non-binding but can help show support for this issue

Let'm get high, they will stay home, not vote and make our corrupt campaign dollars and other "dark money" easier to spread out.

Too many gop states are making a big switch.

SC is considering medical pot
SC has a bill for same gender married couples to file joint taxes, claims it saves the state money

Now texas.

Too big a shift all of a sudden.

Like a precision drill team, the entire Republican party could be screeching like howler monkeys on bath salts for decrim or outright legalize in a week day if the right people say the word.

Perry's got his pulse on the redneck frat boy part of the public if no one else.
